perfect location for walking in the national park, although clearly Cauterets was winding down after the summer season. James and Louise were great hosts - there when needed and fonts of knowledge. I really would love to come back and experience Cauterets and the area in the winter. If we did i would be very happy to stay with the... more

There's a warm welcome from this family run business and always someone on hand to advise and suggest your next day's adventure. Super, recently refurbished apartments- most with balconies overlooking dramatic mountain stream and up into the high Pyrenees. Five minute walk to charming, bustling spa town.So much to see, so much to do - walks, hikes ,.treks to suit... more

We are a family of 5, with 3 little girls aging from 2 to 6 years old. We spent a week in apartment Vignemale. It was all we needed ! Clean and cosy; location is perfect, within 200m of the city center but without the noise and the agitation. Small hikes for kids abound in the neighborhood (be it Lac... more

Fabulous place in all aspects. Cauterets is a French town with a couple of supermarkets, a full range of food shops, a market, and several good restaurants. We stayed in July, and had expected some ski resort summer-fatigue, but were positively surprised. The Mulcares is situated on the high street just 200 m away from the main shopping area in... more

James and Louise Mulcare have renovated a four-level older building in Cauterets to a high standard. We stayed in "Mamelon Vert" (the apartments are named after local hills and mountains), which is on the lowest floor - right next to the river. Good points: Great location: 3 minutes walk to the town center, er, centre, we are in France after... more

We spent a week in Ardiden at the end of May and had a lovely stay. We were the only ones staying (fortunately, given our two noisy children) - the village itself was also very quiet as it was the low season. Our apartment was equipped with everything we needed and the location is excellent, being only a few minutes... more

Wow, what a great find on the internet. Six of us, three from Aus,two from UK, one from France all met for a skiing week. Fabulous fresh snow, making it just perfect for us all. Thanks a million to James for your fabulous hospitality, friendship, knowledge of the area. This unit (Vignamole) was perfect for us, we cooked up some... more

We stayed in the Ardiden apartment for 4 nights and had a great time. Whilst there we had a look at all the apartments which are spotlessly clean and very nicely decorated. All details had been well thought out and everything that you could possibly need in the kitchen was supplied. The bathroom was lovely and light and the shower... more

Mulcares is just perfect! The building has been beautifully restored, with stunning views overlooking the river and the mountains at the back of the chalet, it's lovely waking up to in the mornings. My mum and I stayed at Mulcares (Mamelon Vert apartment) in March this year (2009) for a week's skiing/snowboarding. I was very impressed with the apartment! It... more

While modern, clean, and friendly I would have a couple of reservations. Firstly the river running by is quite noisy. Maybe because the snow was melting but we could not sleep with the window open and conversation on the balcony was impossible. Also, the bathroom was accessed through the bedroom in our apartment, even though the flat is marketed as... more
