The Manoir is a magical place where history whispers to the heart, a place as satisfying to the palate as to the spirit. The restaurant, the staff, the welcoming ambience all work to create a restful and rich experience with cute kittens and delicious culinary feats, apple trees and ample space and walking paths, storytelling stones and stables right-next-door, lakes... I stayed at the Manoir des Portes with my husband. We had a standard room. There was a good shower in the bathroom with plenty of hot water, but to get into the bathroom we had to stand sideways and squeeze through a tiny space (about 18 inches) between the door and the wash basin. The bedroom had lighting so... More

This hotel is located about two kilometres east of Lamballe in the village of La Poterie and in a typical Brittany country landscape. There is an equestrian centre one side, a small lake the other and orchards and fields all around. The 'manoir' is more modest than its name would suggest but with charm and character. The hotel welcome was... More

I cannot concur with the last review. My wife and I stayed here for one night on two seperate occasions in September as part of a walking tour. We had two different rooms and they were both on the small side and the bathrooms were also somewhat "wanting" if one is looking for luxury (these were "standard" rooms). However, we... More

On arrival at the hotel the appearance was tired and grubby, the room was exceptionally small and we did not receive a friendly welcome. The pictures on the website must have been taken sometime ago and do not represent the property in its current state.

Lovely relaxing place to spend a night or two. Gorgeous gardens, lots of plants and flowers. Very nice decking terrace for pre-dinner drinks. Meals innovative and superb value - lovely homemade breads and jams at breakfast.

Super little hotel ,good rooms we had the family one with the large balcony on the top floor. The area is a quiet rural one with charm. Easy to reach Dinan or the coast and many quaint coves etc. The hotel has an excellent restaurant with local dishes well presented and a friendly manner. You need adventure to fully enjoy... More

We arrived at Le Manoir des Portes late afternoon for our 2-night stay and as it was a sunny day this gave a good overall impression of the place. The manager was hospitable and we managed to communicate reasonably well between us given his limited English and our even more limited French! Having left our bags in our room we... More
