Many thanks Richards Debbie and Roy for making our 3 night stay so welcoming. Your home is a home to all. Very comfortable room, breakfast huge and thanks Richard for always remembering hot water for me. Strongly recommend to anyone who wants to stay in Sarlat. Barbara and Wayne Whitaker.

La Lanterne was superb. On arrival, we were greeted heartily and Richard insisted on helping us haul our luggage up to the Loft Suite (50 steps up fairly gradual and secure stairs). Our suite was very spacious. There was a living area with 2 sofas, a table with chairs, and a kitchenette. there was a separate bedroom with queen bed... More

We stayed four nights at La Lanterne in April, 2013, and enjoyed every moment! Terry and Roy (and Richard and Debbie) are so welcoming and hospitable. You could not find a better location to be based in while visiting Sarlat. This lovely little place is located on a narrow, cobblestone side street right in the medieval village, within walking distance... More

Having driven through France in a rainstorm Roy and Richard made us very welcome with a hot cup of tea and a hand out of the car with our bags. This 16th century townhouse is very well located for everything in Sarlat - restaurants, shops and the market. Roy's knowledge of the locality is very useful as are his restaurant tips.... More

I booked our room several months ago relying on the reviewers of Trip Advisor, and they were right. The Bowen clan are the most hospitable people you could find. The site is perfect, you walk to eat dinner, and the rooms are bright and most important: the beds are comfortable. There was a cold spell so our bed was changed... More

This was a special trip away for several reasons and the experience at La Lanterne made it even more memorable! We were greeted with a warm welcome from Roy,Debbie,Richard and Margaret and treated to a complimentary glass of wine in the lovely guests lounge. The surroundings in La Lanterne are warm, homely and relaxing as was the room we stayed in.... More

We stayed at La Lanterne shortly before Easter, still during the off-season and we were actually the only guests for the 3 nights we stayed there. Terri and Roy, along with Richard, Debbie, and Margaret welcomed us as if we were old friends visiting. As soon as we arrived, we were treated to a glass of wine for me, a... More

My wife and I traveled all around France last month and by far this was our best hotel experience. Location is the best possible. The hosts make sure you feel at home and always willing to help in what ever you need. TIP #1: Breakfast at the hotel is a MUST. TIP #2: Have a wine with the hosts in... More

What a delight! The physical B&B was relaxing, cosy, clean , beautifully decorated and with all the modern conveniences. Bathrooms a more than pleasant contrast to the closet size ones in our other three accommodations. The bed ( the Tapestry room) was so comfortable. Breakfast was scrumptious. The only fresh fruit that we had in France that we didn't purchase... More

Never being in France before last year, and planning all my accommodations by myself (with Rick Steve's help)...I was terrified of making a mistake. 17 locations in 47 days. Whew. But now I have a much clearer picture of where I'd go again and where "once was enough". I seriously can't wait til I can return to Sarlat and once... More
