Stayed here as part of a party of six motorcyclists touring France. The setting is quite delightful in its own grounds but still reasonably close to Brantome centre. I would agree with many of the other comments. The rooms are very special but a little worn in places, the food was quite superb and we learnt a lot about the... More

We wanted somewhere special to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and were lucky to find this delightful hideaway in the beautiful Perigord Limousin region. We were given a warm welcome from Jane when we arrived followed by a tour of the premises and this friendly approach continued throughout our stay. We choose the pigeonnier suite which had a separate entrance... More

We stayed at Le Chatenet for 3 nights in mid-June. Lovely house and grounds, but overpriced on all fronts. Our room at the top of the house had no tea/coffee making facilities and no air-conditioning. In hot weather it would have been very hot. Fortunately (!) it was not too hot when we were there. The evening meal, whilst nicely... More

This hotel cannot fail to relax and cheer you. We had a fantastic time. William and Jane are wonderful hosts, really caring about your stay. You must stay for dinner - William's food is fabulous and if you get a chance to share a table with fellow diners - do so, you find out so much about other cultures/lives. Breakfast... More

The website and the other contributers comments are all very valid. The plus sides are its location its history and style (if that is important to you, I personally found it a bit oppressive), and definately William's cooking which is excellant. It can't however seem to decide if it is a hotel or a private house and although the hosts... More

FABULOUS. We spent 6 glorious nights here and cannot wait to return. Book for dinner on your first night and enjoy discussing how terrific it was the following morning over the best breakfast served anywhere. William bakes top notch croissants every morning, makes his own (very special) jam, squeezes the orange juice, serves fresh milk from the farm across the... More

We spent just one night in Le Chatenet but we'd spent a month with no doubt. I travelled two weeks with my mothe in a gastronomique/historic route around the Dordogne & the Lot region. Our goal was to enjoy ourselves with the magnificent lanscapes and also get a little taste of the great products of the of the south of... More

A beautiful XVIIth century 'Gentilhommière', ideally located just above the abbey of Brantôme (the Dodogne "Venice"), a warm welcoming Franco-Taiwanese couple, delicious cuisine (** Michelin would be fair), immaculate rooms looking over a beautiful, warm pool and a stunning country landscape... We spent an unforgettable week and will come back.

From the moment you walk through the massive arched gate under the Pigeonnier, and are greeted by Jane who will offer you the warmest of welcomes, you will fall in love with this beautiful aristocratic home built in 1688, and her passion and enthusiasm for this place, antiques, history and culture will charm you as well. William, her husband, a... More

We travelled throughout France for 3 weeks and Le Chatenet was a stop for 2 nights. Hospitable and charming. Rooms a delight. The pool was great and gardens very large and very well kept. Breakfast very good with usual top quality preserves taken on the terrace over looking grounds. An easy stroll into the wonderful town of Brantome. Our 2... More
