My wife and I stayed a third night after booking only 2. The hotel was everything that Rick Steve's said it was. In addition the breakfast was far better than others we had on our 9 day stay. We did wish that the front desk was more proficient in English, but given the location, the view, the cleanliness and price,... More

I was so optimisitic about the hotel.....The location is really not bad...a mere 6 minute walk to the gates. Volterra is such a small town, that is nothing! I guess if you had luggae it would be a poor and exhausting experience. I found the lack of amenities to be a problem....No soap or shampoo in my room. There was... More

The Villa is at the far end of town & out the gates. A fair walk if you are dragging suitcases along the cobbled roads. The man at the front desk never looked at us, never said "bonjourno", "welcome" or smiled, he just said give me your passprts & I'll give them back to you in 5 minutes. He didn't... More

We stayed in mid September 2011. It is a family owned and run hotel. Some family speak fair English and some almost none but all are friendly. Silvano was very helpful. The housekeeping and grounds staff speak no English as in most overseas hotels. We paid about 90 Euros. There was a wedding one night and they were a little... More

Hotel Albergo Villa Nencini had some nice features - for example, balconies and a pool. But it seemed overpriced. The hotel is outside of the San Gimignano gates, down the hill some ways. We don't mind "old", that's why we were touring Italy! But the hotel looks like it got remodeled sometime in the 80s in a German/Swiss style and... More

this hotel was a disaster,we booked 4 nights and left after 1 night. Only postive is location (near town centre) and free parking BUT... Arrival: no warm welcoming, no info about breakfast (when? where?), just handing over key and that's it. Room: not maintained, dirty, bed almost falling apart and very squeeky, broken furniture, no airco(!). Bathroom: tiny, not maintained,... More

We stayed here this year in mid September. The room was a good size although the shower was quite small. We stayed for a Friday and Saturday night and although there was a reception on Saturday we were not bothered by any noise. The grounds were very pretty and the views were fantastic. We did eat dinner at their restaurant... More

We stayed at this hotel for two nights as part of a Rick Steves' tour group. The rooms are large and comfortable, once you figure out how to lock and unlock the double French doors. The bath is tiny and has limited shelf space for toiletries for two women, but adequate. Breakfast is quite good and the staff were helpful.... More

Hotel is down a steep hill from town but not as difficult as I had anticipated from other reviewers. Buy wireless access when you arrive since you get a 3 hour card for a couple of Euro which you can use at different sessions. All the balcony rooms were taken but we still had a great view over the countryside... More

We stayed at the Villa Nencini for 3 nights in early September 2008 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. On entering Volterra from the south by road you are suddenly confronted by a large number of signposts pointing in various directions to individual hotels, and unless you spot your particular hotel immediately you will miss the turn off. Luckily we managed... More
