Montorio is located on a knoll above the church of St. Biagio and below the town of Montepulciano, so you have great views of both and across the countryside. Stefania, who owns a hotel nearby as well, is a great source of information. Her English is excellent, and she offers great advice for touring and for restaurants nearby. The property... more

My husband and I spent 4 nights at Montario on our honeymoon. We had a 2 bedroom apartment with a kitchen and bathroom. It is a gorgeous old castle in the middle of Brunello wine country. From here we enjoyed beautiful sunsets in a very private setting. Montepulciano is close to Montelcino (vineyards) and a short drive from Cortona (cute... more

Located on it's own tiny hilltop, Montorio is a nicely renovated country house that affords stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the church of San Biagio. Comprised of 5 apartments of varying sizes and a reception office, it has well-maintained landscaping and a gravel patio with furniture, sculpture, and pottery. Montorio sits outside the southwest walls of Montepulciano above... more

Just returning from our first trip to Italy -- two weeks in Tuscany and Umbria at 5 very different types of properties - a B&B, city apartment, elegant Villa and cottage Inn. Our favorite is Montorio. It is in a most beautiful location, offers space and convenience at a moderate price, and absolutely charming patio's and views from the hill.... more

From the photos you'd see to what you read in novels, the Montorio offers views and serenity you'd expect from Tuscany. Stephania was always helpful (although I think the inclusions have changed and we did not have breakfast but had a nice cake upon arrival). Our room was charming; not beautiful, but charming. But the walls were somewhat thin, so... more

My husband and I absolutely loved Montorio. Our suite was spotless and comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace was delicious and the view is amazing. I only wish we had been able to stay more than 3 days. more

We spent 5 nights at this wonderful villa with outstanding views over San Biagio. The service was fantastic. Loreena looked after us each morning for breakfast, and Stephania was always eager to help us with daily plans, dinner reservations, etc. Anyone wanting a spectacular place to stay in Montepulciano would be wise to choose Montorio. We can't wait to return! more

The two highlights of our recent visit to Tuscany were our evening in Siena and our stay at Montorio, a restored 15th century farmhouse in Montepulciano. It sits on its own small hill, looking down on the beautiful church of San Biagio and rolling green fields, and is also in the shadow of the hill on which the main town... more
