My only criticism of the hotel is it's location in relation to the old town, being too far to walk there and back comfortably The hotel is old fashioned, and not everyone liked the tiled bedroom floors, nor was the food particularly italian nor appetising for that matter (penne every night). However you could not fault the staff, particularly the lovely Claudia and her equally... I have just returned from a 7Cities of Italy tour ran by Newmarket holidays. This hotel makes an excellent base for touring not only the surrounding Tuscan area but is also accessible for touring of Citiies. The hotel has been refurbished, and my room was clean, and although the bathroom does have a tiled floor just put a "towel" on... More

My wife Brenda and I spent the last week of June in the Alexander Palme. It was one of the best holidays we have had. We were made so welcome by Claudia and rest of the staff who were second to none in their efforts to make everyone relax and enjoy their time there. The food was excellent and very... More

disapointed at first, not what I expected for a 4* but give the place a chance, as the week went on I liked it more and more and I would go back again. The staff and owner made us feel like family. The pool was perfectly adequet and the 'shocking' lack of balcony or even space to sit down in... More

This hotel is a 4 star but i would say it's more like a 3 star,. However the staff and owner were all very friendly, the rooms were cleaned daily, the location was good and the meals were superb. The only bad thing about this hotel for us was the breakfasts. More

My husband and I arrived at the hotel as part of Seven city tour with Newmarket travel, We thought it charming and friendly, We arrived with quite a few worries after reading some of the reviews on your site, I rang Newmarket and told them of our concern, I told them I would see for myself as realise that some... We arrived at this hotel as a part of Newmarket Seven Cities tour The hospitality was superb. Our first meal was 5 courses beautifully presented and complimentary champagne. The breakfast could have done with a little more imagination, maybe fruit and boiled eggs could be added. The showers were dangerous! they should be sorted immediately. Disliked the towels although I... More

Food was absolutely appalling - they had no idea how food should be laid out, served and terrible food. Two staff to feed 60 people by the time you had eaten the first course you were starving. Rooms very clean but freezing - like walking into a freezer from the street. Very uncomfortable. More

My wife and I stayed at the Alexander Hotel Palme in Chianciano as part of Newmarket Holidays 7 cities tour – this hotel is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The Alexander Palme is advertised by Newmarket Holidays as a 5 star hotel; it may have been 100 years ago, but in 2011 it has rusting taps,... More

There is no way that this hotel is 4 star unless Newmarket Holidays were paying for less! The swimmng pool was only opened on our last day as this seemed to be their opening week. The rooms were at best adequate, hotel was cold ( not their fault -local law) , towels were a joke, and leaving the best til... More
