Had a 5 night stay as a base with Archer's tour of Tuscany. Option of Cristallo or Michelangelo. For once Tripadvisor let me down. I would have chosen Cristallo for location but reviews said otherwise.Michelangelo was more expensive but everyone on tour seemed happier with the Cristallo hotel. Spent 5 nights here as part of a cosmos tour and wished we hadnt. The hotel building looks like something you would have discovered when the iron curtain came down. Finished in bare concrete with the reinforcing bars showing through the crumbling balcanies it could have been used in a war film. Inside isnt alot better, its all very late... More

The Michelangelo is set amongst pine trees just outside the town. We had a lovely spacious 3rd floor room with a great view of Chianciano Terme and the surrounding countryside from the balcony. This hotel was our base for a touring holiday. We booked it as 4 Star with expectations quite high. Oh dear what a disappointment. The hotel is quite away from the town but there is a shuttle bus which stops running at 8p.m. The climb up to the hotel is steep and although I am just 60 years of age... More
