If you are sick of chain hotels with corporate colours, where you feel your experiences barely differ, Walworth Castle is a great example of something a little different. You have the reassurance of the Best Western brand combined with the individuality of this independently owned hotel. Interior and exterior do not disappoint and the room I stayed in had a... More

A superb quiet location only minutes from the A1M Jct 58. Just look at the pictures. It really is that good. The chef is first class, using local produce & all for a very reasonable, or dare I say, bargain price. Make sure to get one of the four poster suites if possible, as the more modern "West Wing" has... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Walworth Castle. We had one of the four poster rooms which was very sopacious, comfortable and well equipped. Good friendly staff and a nice breakfast. Good value too, we would definately stay there again. More

I travel around the country on business and have stayed in numerous hotels. Walworth Castle is one of the best 3 star hotels I've come across. The castle itself is as picturesque as the photographs suggest and it is set in lovely grounds with ample free parking. It is located not far from junction 58 of the A1M and is... More

This place holds fond memories for my partner and I as it’s where we got engaged in 2010, we stayed for DBB in-between Christmas & New Year and couldn’t have been happier with our stay. We booked one of the castle suites which was spacious and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and only too happy to help, there did... More

I was looking for somewhere unusual and interesting to stay for my 40th and this hotel provided that within a realistic budget. We arrived to find plenty of free parking at the front of the hotel and ready to be welcomed after a 3 hour drive. A stunning building in lovely grounds, with Sunderland, Durham and Newcastle all within easy... More

I stayed on Jan 2012 with my husband for my 40th birthday, a surprise from my husband. We were married here in 2009 and have always found the grounds spectacular. The lady in the rear restaurant, think her name is Ann, is kind and friendly and always on hand to help. The food was nice and it was a lovely... More

We chose this because of advertised log fire in Bar, dining menu, and it's castle looks. Unfortunately castles are old and draughty and were noted for their basic catering and lack of heat - we should have remembered this! On the plus side this hotel is an easy location just a mile or two from the motorway and access to... More

Thanks for letting us know your thoughts regarding your stay. We do have an open log fire in the Farmers Bar which many of our customers enjoy, although we are not able to have an open log fire in the lounge. Being such an old building, dating back to 1189, there have been many additions made over the years and... More
