The room was clean and tidy and we found the staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was at the front and top of the hotel and so was very quiet. One minor downside was that at breakfast only had one person was on duty. The breakfast room was busy and the poor lad was run off his feet. Full... More

Although the hotel has been recently refitted to a pleasant standard the un- helpfulness and arrogance of the management completely ruined any improvements made to the building. The breakfast was we where told was available at seven in the morning and for two mornings in a row i had to help my self to cereal and sit in the semi... More

Reading the last comment I cannot really add more. Great place, restored to a great standard. Great value, one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, clean, warm and very warm and welcoming locals and staff. Highly recommended. Thanks More

Great rooms, building has been restored at great expense, breakfast a blockbuster, bar populated by Nottinghamshire versions of compo and cleggy. Great wi-fi, good old village location (next to slightly run down old mining new village), nice and quiet, bar meals reasonably priced. Overall very good quality, prices very reasonable for quality. Whole building devoid of TVs and radios, bring... More

Stayed here several times during and after restoration works whilst building my house. The building is a listed and Historical landmark. A Sam Smiths House it has cheap tasty beer and no frills such as tv or juke box. Pub type food both in the bar and restaurant by the sounds of it... The landlord tries his best and works... More

We had seen the Hop Pole during a visit to the area in the Summer and were impressed by the facade and the fact that it had been refurbished so booked in for a 2 night stay. We were the only visitors (2 couples) and were allocated a twin room and a double. We went out for the evening and... More

We had our annual cricket dinner at the Hop Pole on the 11th November, we had used the hotel on several previous occasions, never again! The hotel has been beautifully and expensively refurbished but they have forgotten that it is the management, kitchen and food that makes a place work. There were 29 of us paying £15.00 a head, we... I recently attended an annual cricket team presentation dinner at the Hop Pole old Ollerton. We have over the past 2 decades mainly used the Hop Pole for this event and are a group of around 30 who come enjoy an evening of good beer, a nice carvery and presentations at the end of the season. When I arrived the... More

This is an excellent B&B. Although I did not stay here before the refurbishments I can honestly say that the standard now after all the work has been completed is really good. The room I stayed in for three nights was a really high standard. The room was spacious and warm, very nicely decorated and the furnishings were of a... More
