I stayed here and ate here and enjoyed both. The rooms are a bit dated, but not bad considering the age of the building itself. The bed was a bit hard, but after a long international flight, it felt like heaven. I really enjoyed my dinner. You pick the protein you want to eat and they cook it to your... More

I had a birthday meal at The Priory, but it did'nt impress me as much as the local hype about the place. The bar area was full of "Hooray Henry's" who were loud and boisterous - too much money and mouth for my liking. We moved swiftly into the restaurant to have our drinks, and were not met by anyone... Not always consistent, either good or excellent but NEVER poor. I love the building and the layout, and is set beautifully in the village of Caerleon. If the sun is shining it is the perfect place to sit in the large garden for a drink. Drinks are reasonably priced but the food although to a good standard is teetering on... More

Caerleon has now a fair share of good quality restaurants to eat in, but for many years I have been going back on a few occasions to The Priory. Last night I celebrated my one year wedding anniversary with my wife, and even though the staff did not know of our special occasion, we were treated like royalty. The staff... More

The restaurant Stale garlic bread, a fillet steak that was ordered as medium and then reheated in a poor attempt to provide what was asked for resulted in the same meat being charred. An average lobster thermadore and a chicken Barbados with an indifferent sauce and a sloppy creme brulee which remained uneaten - the very worst we have ever... More

We had lunch over the May Bank Holiday in this wonderful restaurant that serves and presents excellent food. Two of us had Turbot with Asparagus in a hollandais sauce. The vegetables were cooked to perfection and I had a glass of excellent Rioja. My wife and I visited the place 18 years previously and it was nothing like this but... More

I went to the priory to celebrate my 40th birthday with my friends and family. There was 21 of us sitting down for a meal. The food was superb, the service was excellent and the staff so friendly. Every one of my party commented about what a wonderful evening they had there and didn't want the night to end. I... More

A establishment that seems to have its seasoned followers and 'haters', with very little inbetween. Arriving on Wednesday lunch time at 1.40, without booking we were assured of a table, and sure enough a table was found ( for 7 i might add) Astonishingly over 160 diners had already eaten that service, most Restaurants would die for that type of custom...
