This establishment is badly in need of redecorating. The shower room was small, old and tatty. The walls all need re-painting and the bedroom curtains were mouldy.

I have titled this review "don't bother" as nobody at this establishment seemed bothered whether my wife and I had a pleasant eating experience when we visited. We stayed for a few days in a lovely cottage in the area, and having heard all the fuss about what a great pub and restaurant this was, we were looking forward to...

After an 8 mile walk and a series of excellent reviews we were really looking forward to a good dog friendly new years day pub lunch. Despite ringing ahead to book a table we were greeted by a sour faced and surly bunch of bar staff who seemed more interested in ignoring our party of 4 plus dog than selling...

We drove across from Norfolk to take elderly parents for a birthday surprise lunch here. So disappointing. The place is lovely, the food well prepared with an interesting menu, but no one seemed to care a jot about us even though I'd sent a couple of emails before hand to explain. The 'welcome' at the bar was minimal, the waitress...

This Inn is FANTASTIC!! Situated in a stunning position in Luxborough. Right from the start I was made to feel welcome by a lovely lady called Anita who obviously takes great pleasure in providing a typical warm, friendly and kind but professional service.
James Waller (Landlord) appeared later in the evening and provided us with much humour, lovely personality and...

What a wonderful place - the rooms, the staff, the food and the welcome were absolutely excellent, we chaecked in quite early and had coffee, had excellent baquettes made up for our picnic lunch, dinner was out of this world and to top it all I had a kipper for my breakfast.

We had a lovely weekend at this historic inn. Situated in a quiet Exmoor village, this award-winning inn rightly prides itself on its food. We had superb dinners both nights - plenty of fish, game and good steaks - and special requests were well catered for. Breakfasts were equally good and freshly cooked, though last orders are 9am and 930...

We were made very welcome by landlady behind bar and food was very good in this lovely old pub. Fantastic bar with flagstone floor and open log fire and only spoiled by surly waiter - he could really benefit from some customer service training.

The Royal Oak at Luxborough is the Good Pub Guide “Inn of the Year, 2012” so you expect it to be good. It's more appealing on the inside than out with stone flag stones, wooden cladded walls and interconnected dining rooms. We stayed one night in the Benny Room (room 6). I think that the rooms are named after bears...

We came across this pub by chance when walking on Exmoor on a very wet day in August. Once inside, settled in by the fire, we decided it would be a lovely place to celebrate my husband's birthday so we booked two nights at the end of October. We had seen the room when we booked so we knew it...
