We were treated to an overnight stay in this beautiful castle as an anniversary present from our two son's. All I can say is what a fantastic place and setting made even better by the service we were given whilst there. Reading the history on how they brought the castle back to what it is today is a testament to... More

We stayed five wonderful days at Gwydir Castle and loved every minute. We stayed there in early December and the weather played just a minor role in our days of sightseeing. Judy and Peter couldn't be more accommodating and helpful. Judy's book, CASTLES IN THE AIR, is a terrifi account of how they somehow managed to restore the castle and... More

'I would just like to add my voice to the amazingly positive reviews of Gwydir Castle. We were lucky enough to stay recently and it was the highlight of our trip. If the tick of an old clock and the crackle of a fire sound appealing then this is the place for you. Entering Gwydir is like entering the pages... More

I unfortunately have to differ with the most recent (positive) postings for Gwydir Castle. While we were looking for an "authentic" castle experience in North Wales, we were not expecting what we encountered. My wife had read "Castles in the Air" prior to the trip...I wish I had (I read it while at Gwydir) because it would have given me... More

Attended a family wedding at this venue, what a fantastic place. Bride and groom stayed for a few nights and they loved it there!! Nothing to dislike about this one. More

It's all been said. Great place to say with no tv or wifi. Peacocks add to the atmosphere for a shift back in time. I did sneak my iPad in and don't thinkvthey saw... More

If you're a 21st century traveler, this may not be for you. There's no shower (but a huge bathtub), no TV or internet. Instead, there'e a big room furnished with antiques, breakfast by a fireplace, peacocks outside the windows, and acres of garden to wnader through. Judy and Peter have done a wonderful job in restoring this gem, an oasis... More

What a treasure!! Had found this on the internet and was intrigued to visit whilst staying in nearby Llanwrst. We are so glad we found it. Glorious gardens, friendly Peacocks and a beautiful historic house to mooch around. Definitely going to buy Castles in the Air to see how it was lovingly restored! More

There's not a lot to add to the positive comments about Gwydir Castle - if you want WiFi, TV, luxury toiletries and a 'could be any luxury hotel' atmosphere, then this wouldn't be for you. If however, you want the opportunity to stay in a castle where you are transported back in time to a place where the peace of... More

We were greeted by Judy, who is just so calmly lovely, at the small door in the gate and shown to the house. The creaking door, wooden worn steps so added to the feeling you were somewhere special. We received such a warm welcome by both Judy and Peter. I immediately spotted the book written by Judy 'Castles in the... More
