It was quite a hike alongside a busy road to reach the Oakwood Park Hotel from my hike along Hadrian's Wall, but it was well worth it. The Hotel is a welcoming place with a lovely guest lounge and an interesting history (served as a hospital for returning troops during WWI). Owner Rosemary is very accomodating and a wonderful cook. We stayed here at the start of a Hadrian's Wall walk. A thoroughly satisfactory experience - our room was huge, complete with sofa and nice views on two sides. Both the breakfast and the dinner were very nice home cooked meals and set us up well for the walking! The mother/daughter hosts were welcoming and hospitable. More

I now forgot how many times we have visited this outstanding hotel, however as always we thoroughly enjoy our stay. Room 3 is a delight with its lovely views over the park. We look forward to returning next year. More
