Our 4th visit to the Royal. We knew before travelling that refurbishment was "a work in progress" Despite this we enjoyed our stay yet again. The Hotel's location and friendly staff compensated for facilities we had experienced on previous occasions. To us Bangor would not be the same without the Royal.Situated overlooking the Marina and with shopping and delightful Shore walks on your... Every time myself and my fellow grafters are working in Bangor we always stay at The Royal, now The Windsor. We have noticed as time goes by how this once very above average hotel is going downhill fast. This last visit was the worst. Firstly as it has been a year since our last visit we wrongly thought the refurbishment... More

Our website, our tripadvisor page and our laterooms page indicate that some rooms can be affected by sound from our various entertainments. Planning has been granted for a new hotel and apartments but until the new build commences we don't have lift access to the bedrooms. Again our various booking agents have all of this information posted. Apologies that a... More

I stayed here as a group of 8 as we were working in the area. First impressions are dismal.... had I been staying here on my own I would have walked out as soon as I attempted the stairs.... there is no specific reception, it feels very tired and dated (although there was one member of staff - a chap... Do NOT waste your money on this dump! Needs a good clean, Service rubbish. And breakfast what a joke !! Down at 9 no hot food left and were told they weren't making any more. When we complained we were told by the staff that it was supposed to be his day off and that he wasn't supposed to be... More

On check-in all guests are shown where breakfast is served and the time of service. Although this guest arrived late for breakfast they were offered breakfast in the bar. Management did not refund the guest's stay as was demanded by the guest. We do not understand the suggestion that our member of staff was not supposed to be there. We... More

We stayed at the Royal in 2008 and were told that a new hotel was planned. It seems it took 3 years to get planning approval but that with the banking sector in upheaval plans for the new hotel have been put on hold. They've down-sized the hotel and call themselves the Windsor Inn. Entarnce is via the Windsor Bar... More

Although the rooms are a little tired, and are due for refurbishment, the location is excellent. Staff are more than accommodating and the food is excellent. More

As two couples stayed here over Halloween to go to the Saturday Night Fever disco with Carolyn Stewart which is held on the first floor every Saturday. The staff are lovely, the bar food was great with a two course meal a mere £9.95. The rooms are basic, the beds comfy and clean and have rooms have en-suites. At only... More

My husband and I had stayed at the Royal 2 years ago and really enjoyed it, not so this time! Yes we were warned that refurbishment was in progress and there was no lift to the 2nd floor, but we did assume there would be help available to get our luggage up. Our cases were not light after spending 9... More
