On this visit to the Salty Dog the service was excellent, prompt and very attentive by all the experienced staff. The meal was cooked to a very high standard, delivered within a reasonable time and presentation was superb. We were not rushed but well attended to. Was pleasing to see and speak with the owner who stopped and spoke with... More

I live locally in Bangor and have been to many restaurants but salty dog is without a doubt the best. The food is unbelievably nice. I have also stayed twice and both times was treated amazingly by the staff. I would recommend it to everyone! Can't wait to go back again! More

We went as a family on Easter Sunday 2012 as been before and the food etc was great but this time the mains were cold and the "12 hour slow cooked beef" was tough, we discovered that the chef had moved on and the new one was not as good. More

We stayed in a room with a sea-view. Very nice! Comfortable and clean and nice and warm. The only problem with the Salty Dog was the service in the restaurant. It took 2 hours for a 3 course meal! That wouldn't be bad or would be more acceptable if they were busy, however, this was not the case. Waiting 30mins... More

Had a very pleasant evening at The Salty Dog - food was great and service excellent. We were a party of six and no one had a bad meal. Views over the bay were lovely, especially as the lights came on across the water. We were very well looked after. Would recommend for a good meal and lovely atmosphere. Didn't... More

I had the squid and steak last night. The squid was great, the steak was very disappointing. It was grizzly and fatty. Definitely won't order it IF I ever go back again!! Disabled toilet is a bit cramped for wheelchair More

My son treated me to dinner for Mother's Day - we'd eaten here before and had been pleased with menu and service. Yesterday was different. Even though we'd booked, we were kept waiting 30 mins for our table with no explanation. The set menu was very limited and our choice (roasted cod) was finished - at the start of their... More

Sunday lunch with my wife and three kids. Very relaxed atmosphere and the food was great, staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Well worth a visit even though the arrogant French man has left :-) More

The Salty Dog. Excellent. from the minute we walked in, lovely helpful staff. On check in we had our room upgraded to a sea view room, just amazing views over the lough. Some people would find the rooms abit plain but dont forget this used to be a few townhouses that they have knocked together! it is quirky! booked for... More
