We stopped here for a light lunch only so cannot comment on the evening menu or the rooms. The lunch menu was more interesting than some others in the area, but not exceptional. My sandwich was made from very uninspiring sliced bread, but my husbands salmon dish was nicely sauced. The choice of wine other than by the bottle is... More

We had booked a 4 night stay as part of our break to Yorkshire. We left York on the Wednesday morning and after visiting Castle Howard, we headed for the Blacksmiths. It had been fairly wild the night before and we could see the snow on the distant hills. As we drove higher up the valley, the drifts at the... More

From the moment we stepped inside the Blacksmith Arms and was greeted by the lovely Howard we knew we were in for a treat. Howard showed myself and my Husband to our room (Garden room number 21), we could not believe our eyes, it was the most spacious room we have ever had the pleasure of staying in, very clean,... More

We stayed in a garden room no 19 and was very surprised by the size of the room. Tea/coffee making facilities very good with a range of teas including fruit ones. We ate in the restaurant and the food was wonderful, could not fault any of the courses. Husband had the cheese board for desert and could not believe the... More

We stayed for 2 nights in March 2012. We found the Blacksmith's Country Inn deep in a National Park. We opted for a garden room which was a little extra but well worth the money. The welcome was warm and friendly and our room was spotlessly clean and tidy, spacious and warm. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts.... More

We have just returned from the Blacksmiths Country Inn after a very enjoyable break. You cannot go wrong staying here and i recommend it to all Trip Advisor members. We liked everything about our accomodation and find it impossible to find any faults or areas for improvement. A great base for walking, sightseeing or just chilling out. If it snows... More

We stayed at the Blacksmiths Country Inn for our wedding anniversary walkign weekend in November. We stayed in the largest of the garden rooms which was very spacious, well furnished and spotlessly clean. The garden rooms all have patios and garden furniture and would have been lovely on summer evenings. The bathroom was a good size with bath and shower... More

Just spent a night at the Blacksmiths with three other couples. Although the hosts were very friendly and obliging, we found the meal to be a little disappointing. Two of the steaks had a strange smell to them, they thought had been located with "cheese" , one steak they did replace. Two people had the encusted Rack of Lamb. These... More
