3 Feb 2010 | Trip type: Couples New

Used to be a great typically british country house hotel, now overrun with Aussie/New Zealand staff and management, and while reasonably efficient the ambience is forced and unconvincing, the female manager (Brianne I believe) is very friendly to males & females if you are Antipodean or wealthy american, otherwise prepare for a frosty reception and all other comms. We used... more

This has to be the strangest, most hurtful and astonishingly incorrect review we have ever encountered....I am at a loss of where to begin, but would like to know who has posted this travesty. I should note they have listed their last stay as Aug 2007?!?. As we have noted before on this site, we have in the past occasionally...

Having stayed at the hotel (now apparently a 'castle'!) many times in the past (since 1987) we were appallled and saddened to see such a change. The hotel used to be warm and welcoming, with a genuine welcome and real warmth. Pretentious and stuffy staff now operate this place and reading other tripadvisor reviews one can well see that 'rosettes... more

I stayed at the Dulmunzie a while back on a business trip. I thought the setting was very peaceful and the food was very good. The staff were very attentative and were always happy to help. However, my room could of done with a good clean. It was very dusty. I could see it thick on the bedside table. The... more

Thank you for your kind comments regarding Dalmunzie's staff and also your constructive criticism of the dust on the bedside table. The hotel had only just re-opened after a 6 week break but this should have been cleaned to your satisfaction. As you suggest it would have been best to bring this to our attention so we could have dealt...

One of our party (14 people) was celebrating her 50th birthday. We spent 4 days and 3 nights. I could have stayed much much longer. Everything was perfect. Although the hotel looked like it needed a little bit of painting it suited the place. The atmosphere, the history, the outside, everything just looked right. The service was second to none,... more

My son was married in January. The reception was at Dalmunzie, with the wedding service in the little church, basically at the end of the drive. I would like to thank the management and staff for the absolutely wonderful experience. From the time the guests arrived, a couple of nights prior to the wedding, to the time that we all... more

7 Jul 2009 | Trip type: Couples

Our room was well past its prime and filled with furniture & decor from the the Fawlty Towers era - this was perfectly illustrated when the hairdryer blew up in my hand! With next to no water pressure the shower was FAR from the quality you would hope for when paying these kind of prices. The staff, whilst friendly, were... more

This review is unfortunately an example of the more ludicrous variety one may find on Trip Advisor. As a responsible organisation we welcome criticism but this is beyond a joke. However we do feel duty bound to respond... Firstly we are extremely proud of the decor filled with antiques which is a result of a recent and ongoing refurbishment. The...

We stayed here as a group of three couples. Although we stayed at the hotel for only one night , our stay was a great experience with the service and food being absolutely first class. The rooms and bathrooms are slightly aged but this seems to add to the character and history that surrounds the hotel. Dalmunzie is a great... more

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at Dalmunzie. We particularly liked the note about the aged rooms as this is what our refurbishment was trying to achieve as befitting an old property! Scott Poole Director

Dalmunzie Castle is set amongst the rolling hills of Glenshee with great walks and a 9 hole golf course. The food was exceptional, staff very attentive and friendly. We would have loved to be staying longer. Our room was very clean, bed very comfortable. Would higly recommend this for a get away to relax and unwind. Would be lovely in... more

Small adjacent golf course which is separate from hotel was an added bonus -- beautifully kept and great fun. The staff were first class and we found the breakfasts were almost as good as the evening meals which were of a very high standard. Highly recommended. more

This is the second time we have stayed at the Dulmunzie and once again you are made to feel so welcome the minute you step through the door of the hotel.
