Friendly, welcoming and helpful. Comfortable and good location. Only (very) slight downside is the limited and early breakfast time but I would definitely stay there again, and recommend it to others.

We spent 3 nights at The Fernside in September, where we met up with 3 other family members. All five of us were impressed by the very helpful service and general ambience of the hotel. We needed the use of a fridge for medication and were given a mini-fridge to use in our room, which was perfect. Breakfast and "bar...

The kids & I decided on impulse to travel to Isle of Wight for the remainder of their half-term and chose The Fernside after searching TripAdvisor. We all had an extremely pleasant stay and look forward to returning in the summer. Many thanks to Lawrie for all his help.

My friend and I stayed four nights at the Fernside last week (September 25th to 28th) and had a lovely stay. Our room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was excellent and our hosts very warm and helpful. We ate at the bar one evening as well. The "bar snacks" was a bit of a misnomer as it was a...

My wife and I had a three night break here last week and we cannot speak highly enough about this excellent hotel.
The rooms are spotless clean and very comfortable tea and coffee and free bottled water in the room.
The breakfast is as good as you can get anywehere - a full (and I mean full!) quality English breakfast...

B&Bs aren't cheap when compared with Travelodge and bargains you can sometimes get from Hotel chains. We stayed 2 nights at this well located B&B for £144 and we very impressed. The place was clean, not tatty in any way, good breakfast with a great modern TV and they tried so hard to please. They were really professional and helpful...

The Fernside was clean comfortable excellant breakfast [definately no 'value brand' as one comment made] and yummy breakfast. Liked also the bottles of water which were left. Its the little touches that make it. Excellant hosts the only gripe was tv was a bit small, but then we havn't gone on holiday to watch tv. Room adequate size very good value.

There is a bar that is open inthe evening for drinks and bar meals, and in the morning there is a spendid breakfast room where a very good full english breakfast is served. There is good off-street parking and the...

The Fernside is a lovely clean and comfortable place to stay in arguably the best area of the Isle of Wight for a short break or indeed a longer summer holiday.
We were made very welcome by Lawrie and Denise, the bedroom was first class and the breakfasts were exceptional. The Fernside also has a good bar/lounge area which we...

Laurie must be the friendliest hotelier in the island. We were heartily welcomed and when he told us that nothing was too much trouble he meant it.
The room was of a good size good and cleaned to a high standard. the en-suite shower was also well powered and very clean. The bed was firm and comfy.
We enjoyed the...
