Dead flies in the light fittings, hair and dirt on the bedroom floor (the cleaner told us that the vacuum cleaner doesn't work anymore when we asked for it to be cleaned!), worn out and old furniture...........our room was on the first upper floor which also has the kitchen for the pub downstairs on it, the most attractive feature was... I've just returned from a week at the George which is excellently situated with good parking. In terms of comfort it cannot be faulted. The staff were friendly and helpful and the prices very reasonable. On the downside the decor is very tired. It needs a good lick of paint, both outside and inside, and new carpets. This is not... The hotel is in a great location, near the airport and overlooking the ancient castle. Big rooms with huge beds and everything you need for a pleasant stay. By far the best part of the stay was the staff and the incredible food! Amazing menu, all homemade, great value for money. Best fish pie I have ever had...so good I... More

I spent two nights in the George Hotel while exploring the isle of Man. I found this to be a very comfortable Victorian style hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room I stayed in was spacious and had a great shower. It also had a great view of the castle. The bed was very comfortable and I... More

The hotel is in a prime position in the centre of attractive Castletown. Our very large room overlooked the castle and had doors leading onto a balcony. It contained a six foot bed (could be converted to twins) a large sofa in the bay window, two arm chairs, two upright chairs with stained fabric coverings and a coffee table. The small... More

Stayed recently for a few nights, the whole place has a really shabby look to it, chairs are worn, carpets look like they need a carpet cleaner using on them each day for a week, paintwork needs doing, rooms are rather 1970\80ish with curtains that need washing, it does make your heart sink on arrival - it would make a... This place is run-down, faded, and could badly do with some modernisation and some repainting. And yet I found I really liked it, when staying for one night recently on a business trip. It's right in the middle of Castletown, with the shops, harbour, castle, beach all close by. My room was spacious. And the staff (in line with my... More

Popped in for a quick bite just to refuel before another stint shopping. Once again a warm welcome from the Staff.Somebody had taken time to put up a nice tree and decorate the bar giving it the Christmas feel. The food came in good time and was extremely tasty and well presented. My Wife commented on the fact that our drinks... More
