As my birthday was coming up and we had noticed a great offer on the Clifton news letter (we had stayed several times before). We decided to book for the 4 days. The offer included an upgrade to the new suite which fortunately was available . What a treat to stay in , with its new furniture, including a lovely... More

We had a lovely stay at The Clifton. It was our first time on the Isle of Wight and we could not have chosen a better place to stay, The Clifton is well situated, overlooking the sea front and within easy walking distance to the "Old Village" which is lovely. David and his staff were very accommodating and informative about... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at the Clifton. Friendly staff - Graham was very helpful, especially in offering to carry our heavy luggage up to our room on the top floor. The breakfasts were outstanding, as was the one deliciously fishy dinner we had there. Our room had a bay window with sweeping views over the Channel - worth... More

We had a most enjoyable stay, with the main object of having a base to visit Osborne House. The hotel was a good choice, enhanced by the warmth of the welcome and the overall helpfulness of the staff. The location is first-class, benfiting from its cliff-top location close to Shanklin Chine and Old Village. Our room was well-appointed, clean, warm... More

I booked direct with hotel to get the best room. A brand new suite with 2 balconies overlooking the sea. What a lovely 3 night break!! Ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. The breakfasts were wonderful with a selection of cold buffet, pastries and a very naughty home made chocolate flapjack on one particular morning. Choice of hot... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such great comments. We are really pleased you were impressed with the Hotel & Staff, that is music to our ears!. Carys (chef) really goes that extra mile when it comes to the breakfast selection and often adds little treats. Room 2 is new for this season and we have finally... More

Stayed 2 nights at the Clifton Hotel in Shanklin for my husbands birthday. I know the IOW isn't exactly huge, but Shanklin was a good choice of location, with the hotel itself is a few mins walk from the town/village centre making it easy to get to restaurants for the evening. The hotel overlooks the sea, and the beach is... More

The Clifton’s privileged location on the cliff top offers an amazing sea view and makes it an ideal retreat for those in search of tranquility. The Conservatory Bistro offers a stunning view of the bay which can also be enjoyed from the lovely garden offering the perfect visual tonic to relax and revitalise, perhaps with a good book and an English Cream Tea, or refreshments from the licensed bar. Local is Best……with prime farming land all around us and a host of specialist growers and producers making the most of it, we usually have access to plenty of fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, as well as quality fish and meat. The garden opens out to Keats Green and the lovely walk between Shanklin and Sandown (part of the Isle of Wight Coastal Path) with fantastic views across Sandown Bay. This also leads to the famous Shanklin Chine with a pathway down to the sandy beaches. Within easy reach by foot are the picturesque Shanklin Old Village with its thatched roofs, and the beautiful Rylstone Gardens. ... more   less
