Enjoyable stay with friendly hosts. Food was excellent with plenty of choice. Only critism was the room. Being on a busy A road (A181) the noise was very noticeable from early morning (6am) onwards.

We booked this last minute as we wanted a night away. Good country location.
The facilities are a bit dated but the host makes you feel welcome. Always has tips to make your stay comfortable and how to get around.
The breakfast was sumptious, could not fault anything, served by the ever jolly landlady. Didn't try the dinner but form...

On arrival received a very warm welcome. However the entrance and steps to rooms does need a lot of upgrading and desperately needs a new carpet. The room was a pleasant surprise after that. Clean and well appointed with a very comfortable bed. Plenty of tea, coffee and water. Fantastic views from the room and from the pub in general....

I had trepidations about staying above a pub. As and American, I suppose I assumed it would be loud and smoky. I can assure you this could not be further from the truth. The pub and family room that we stayed in were comfortable, neat and tidy. Someone mentioned a hum in the room we stayed in and we noticed...

Booked the Three Horseshoes Inn because all hotels in Durham were fully booked, but didn't regret it for a minute. Got the family room which was clean and spacious. Tea, coffee, bottled water and biscuits in the room. Lovely people and great breakfast. Very good value. The only reason why I give it 4 stars and not 5 is the...

Despite facing the main road, once the window was closed it was not noticeable. Nice touches such as tea/coffee, bottled water and biscuits. Kids had bunk beds which was great and plenty of room for a...

We stayed here for a weekend and after tasting the breakfast (no watery bacon etc here - all locally sourced tasty stuff) decided to book an evening meal too. We were not disappointed. The food was home cooked and delicious and the service great. The couple who run the pub manage to look after you really well without being intrusive,...

Nice friendly Pub,
The food was varied and well presented, and at reasonable prices, the breakfast was also up to a good standard.
The room I had was spacious and clean with an albeit small en suite, it also had a small flat screen TV and high speed internet.
The corridors and stairs could do with a bit of a...

decent sized clean room ; comfy bed ; very clean bathroom ; excellent breakfast ; no parking problems ; good choice of beer ; friendly hosts. The building itself is a little bit tired but from the looks of things the owners are doing updates bit by bit. Would certainly use again when in that part of the world. Great...
