I stayed here overnight with 2 workmates and can say this is the best hotel I have stayed in Durham. The rooms were simply ok but the service and room from the on site restaurant were well above par, the steakhouse was really good with well cooked food and we had our drinks brought to us our in the gardens... more

I also have difficulty in finding negatives regarding our 2 night/3 rounds of golf break. The setting is ideal , bedrooms spacious and carvery superb. If we were to be nitpicking breakfast was disappointing and service could have been quicker. However the golf courses were all in wonderful condition and quiet. We travelled to Durham to celebrate a fortieth birthday of a family member. I prebooked the restuarant for 7 family members. Our room was fabulous, four poster bed and jaccuzzi bath. I was really disappointed with this hotel on a number of counts. I upgraded from a standard room and I wish I hadn't bothered. The jacuzzi was noisy, the room was really musty and my clothes in my bag now stink of the room. The dressing gowns had stains on them. Very poor more
