4 of us enjoyed an excellent few days at this beautifully situated hotel. The rooms were large and well furnished with lovely batthrooms. We were happy to have paid the supplement for the upgrade and enjoyed our stay very much.T he staff were all very friendly and worked hard to ensure we had a happy stay.

we paid a discount price...however i would not like to have paid anymore....upside....staff were friendly and worked hard .....breakfast was excellent....service very good. beds were quite new and i had an excellent nights sleep, location fantastic....downside....room was shabby not very clean. evening meal was very basic...soup was just out of a packet...portions small...but well presented and quite ok....just a lick...

Visited the Royal for the 2nd time for a few days with friends. Things seem to have improved in some areas. The food being the main area. The bedrooms seem to have had and were still going through a make over. Cheap and cheerful make over but a vast improvement. The make over was still in progress during the stay....

Always judge a hotel by "Would we go there again?" and the answer this time is yes. Certainly in the top rank list of the Shearings set. Rooms, well our one anyway, have been refurbished since our last visit here, about 5 years ago. Two lifts. Looked like a brand new bathroom/shower suite, fully tiled. New furniture in the bedroom....

EXCELLENT IN EVERY WAY, THE STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY. THE POSITION CLOSE TO SHOPS. FOOD AND SERVICE IN DINING ROOM WAS EXCELLENT.
