Brian and Debbie are exceptional as hosts for this B&B that they have not long undertaken. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable, including going beyond the call of basic duty in driving us to Appleby for the Horse Fair and collecting us once we had finished! The room was immaculate, something which I... More

Myself and my friend stayed in Barnard Castle as we were going to the Appleby Fair over the weekend of 7-9th June 2013. Upon arrival we were very warmly welcomed by Debbie and taken into the comfy lounge area and offered refreshments. What a great start. We were then taken through breakfast times, evening meal availability and advised on some... More

Many thanks, Brian and Deborah, for a really enjoyable stay (2 nights). We were in the garden room which was as good as any room we,ve stayed in in very expensive hotels. Thanks for the friendly welcome, you made us feel very at home. We had dinner here on both evenings and they were excellent - rack of lamb !... More

Hi just spent an overnight stay at Homelands celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary. We stayed in the garden suite , private, secluded and cosy. Everything was spottless clean and wanted for nothing, Brian and Deborah were perfect hosts , friendly and relaxing, from arriving to leaving. The only downside of our stay , was not being there longer. Next time... More

What to say about Homelands where we stayed just last night? Everything is done well. The Garden room was charming, peaceful and the beds dangerously comfortable. The welcome was generous and friendly and the breakfast would grace a 5 star hotel, from the crisp linen to the delicious, hot, locally sourced food. If you stay in Barnard Castle its simple,... A very good bed and breakfast. Welcome cup of tea and very friendly owners made this a lovely trip. Breakfast was exceptional with a delicious fruit salad and gluten free bread. Bikes safely locked away.

Perfect accommodation after a full day's cycling. Friendly cheerful welcome from booking through to arrival. The welcome cup of tea was much appreciated. High quality rooms, well equipped. The breakfast was delicious, particularly the fruit salad. I would stay here again. Gill H

Barnard Castle sits on the Walney to Wearside cycle route, so if your looking for somewhere to rest your aching body after climbing the Pennines then homelands guest house is the perfect place to stay. We were made very welcome ( a complementary beer was just the tonic we needed ), the rooms were excellent, and the hearty breakfast really... More
