We stayed for 2 days and wished it was for a week. John and Susan made us feel at home when we arrived and for the whole of our stay, Its a great location for touring Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. Poppies hotel is conveniently close to the high street for leisurely shoppinfg or browsing. Don't miss 'Nutcracker' the Christmas... more

Poppies hotel was one of the better hotels during our Scotland journey. Great rooms, they announced bathroom of our room would be renovated, but yet in this state it was a lot better than in some of our previous hotels. Rest of the room was elegantly designed, demonstrating good taste. Beds were of good quality. Staff in the restaurant was... more

Our party of 13 unanimously voted this the best hotel during our tour of Scotland in classic MG cars. The welcome was excellent. Rooms varied greatly in size and amenties but all were exceptionally clean , comfortable and quiet. The bar and restaurant service was charming and attentive and the standard of cuisine lived up to expectations. more

My friend and I stayed in Room 9, a twin room, right beside reception. It was very nicely decorated, modern and very clean. Small bathroom but did the job fine! The restaurant is well worth a visit. The food was absolutely delicious and we didn't leave feeling bloated or skint! The owners are lovely and the service is relaxed and... more

We are fairly local to the Poppies hotel, and wanted somewhere for an overnight stay to make our weekend different. The Poppies were advertising a murder/mystery evening and we decided to join them for Saturday 31/ January. On booking the hotel,we were given a superior room for the price of a standard room,as it was the last room left.<well done> Check... more

Three couples were traveling together and we did not have the time to get all the way back to Edinburgh to leave the next day so we wanted to stay outside the city. We had trouble getting three rooms until we contacted Poppies. What a find! The rooms were small but very clean. The best part was dinner and breakfast.... more

We stayed at Poppies with family, in preparation for and for a time after a family wedding during June 2008. First impressions were good - the outside was well maintained, plenty of space to park. Then we went in to the reception area and felt somewhat underwhelmed as it was on the shabby side. Also, a little anxious about what... more

We booked this hotel for a one night stopover on our way to the north-west of Scotland. Chose it because it had good reviews and their website was very helpful. We were not disappointed. I have a mobility problem and the owner gave us the ground floor room which has an accessible shower. This would have been difficult for wheelchair... more
