Weekend stay. Thoroughly recommend. Friendly and helpful staff, lively atmosphere, excellent menu and perfectly cooked and presented food. Restaurant and bar food, and well kept ale. Newly decorated bedroom, comfortable and clean. Private secure car park. Well situated at end of main street of town. more

Stayed overnight in room no3 spotless with a very nice bathroom. Excellent food in the bar, secure parking. Only downside is the locals appear to think that speed limits in the town are reserved for visitors, which the the owners have no control over. But don't let it put you off if visiting the area. more

We stayed on our way to Suffolk and visited friends living in Dereham. we enjoyed every moment and would certainly stay again. the only fly in the ointment was the early wake up from the nearby road but as it is on old coaching inn that was probably to be expected. It did not spoi;l our stay and rooms 9... more

Dusty and musty is the first impression, with 1980s pub carpets long overdue a clean. Our room, decorated in black and grey, had a fire escape door leading out onto a set of stairs to the car park which had free access to the street. Despite the hot weather we did not feel safe to have a window open because... more

The location of the hotel allowed for a nice walk round town for a few pints in other pubs and hotels before settling back at the George for a lovely meal and some well kept cask ale. The car parking was ample and room was generous in size. The good breakfast was served promptly and politely and overall I have... more

It was our second stay in this hotel to which we returned because we enjoyed our stay the first time, which was only for one night. The restaurant was very nice, with a varid menu to suit all types. The rooms and beds are very comfortable and the showers are also great. The breakfast was also excellent ! The staff... more

While I enjoyed my stay at the George, I was very upset and disappointed with the staff at the end of my stay. Shortly after I left the Hotel, I discovered I had left some belongings in the bathroom, which were expensive and had sentimental value to me. I contacted the Hotel and on speaking to various members of the... more

Management response from
UkLeelee, Owner

Althought this reviwer has said that valuable and sentimental items went missing during their stay at the Hotel, The management would like to point out that the said items were only used make-up and toiletries. The Hotel has been thouroughly searched and nothing has been found - but we also have no proof that the make up or toiletries were...

FUN, FRIENDLY & FABULOUS. This hotel will always be a huge favourite of mine when i need to stay in norfolk on business. I am completley shocked at the other review here, saying "Think Twice before you stay"! I think this person must have got this hotel confused with another, as i definatley did not have the same experience. The... more
