Really enjoyable stay at this well run, warm and friendly hotel. The bar and restaurant were first class and the service especially good. Menu fabulous and wine list too. Put my faith back in British regional hotels.. Well done. More

We stayed two nights with our three kids aged 2, 4 and 6. It was very easy for the kids, especially having food available all day and friendly staff. There's no specific kids facilities but it still felt family friendly and very welcoming. More

Hello Dubai, and thanks for your lovely review, we very much appreciate it. We particularly loved the snowman your daughters built - sadly he's begun to melt, so we hope you might come back and visit us again - perhaps bring your lovely sunshine weather with you next time!. More

It's more than 20 years since I was at this hotel as I have moved away from the region. Returning to this lovely old manor house was a real pleasure, particularly as it was welcoming to enter after a five hour drive with snow! Both food and wine were good and, critically for us, the bed comfortable Richard G. More

Thanks for taking the time to write on Tripadvisor. We're very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. All original manor house bedrooms are now function rooms; with almost 400 years of history we're limited to how these original rooms can be altered and so they're not adaptable to meet today's modern bedroom requirements. The bedroom wing is away... More

We visited in December for an early Christmas treat having had the experience recommended by a number of friends. We were not disappointed, a lovely roaring fire, a glass of Prosecco, perfect. The sandwiches, cakes etc were very well presented and throughout we had appropriate but unobtrusive service, we were very impressed. As a result of this visit we purchased... More

Went for Sunday Lunch expecting the restaurant to be really good, particularly as it has received some very positive comments before. It was alright but nothing special. Unfortunately it had a couple of my pet hates. This isn't the cheapest place to go so why, why oh why, would you sit people on a wobbly old table!!!! Every time we... More

Hi Mark, thank you for your review. We'll be checking all the tables carefully to cure the wobbly one. We have had really positive feedback with regards to the slates used to present certain dishes, so perhaps this is a matter of individual taste, regardless we thank you for your comments. We hope to see you again soon. More

Interesting place, I can see why its a popular wedding venue as the building itself is full of character. The reception girls were very friendly and welcoming, polite and gave me a nice complimentary glass of mulled wine. Not sure if this was left over from Christmas but it tasted nice and was a nice warming touch on a cold,... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in January on a business trip. I had booked a single room but was given a fab room with a large half tester bed. The rest of the room was very clean with all the usual facilities. I always worry about noise in older properties having been kept awake by snoring or televisions etc on... More

I have been to this hotel a couple of times now for weddings. Given the honour this hotel has around the town I always expect better than it actually is. Its okay, but nothing outstanding. Food is fine, but again nothing different from anywhere else. Surroundings are lovely. Not stay overnight as I live locally and have never eaten as... More

We held our Wedding ceremony and reception at Holdsworth House in May and could not fault the excellent service that we recieved.
