I stayed here with about 30 well-behaved high school students from Louisville, KY, USA in late June 2005. We had a customized trip with EF tours.
By far, this was the nicest hotel out of the three we stayed in during our trip. The rooms had large, comfortable beds. The restrooms were well maintained and modern considering the hotel's location in the Scottish countryside. There was more than ample space for lounging near the lobby and outside on the patio. The food provided in the hotel restaurant found few complaints from somewhat picky American teens. The staff was polite and helpful with answers, but no real problems needed to be solved.
Nearby Powmill and the surrounding area is quaint and scenic, surrounded by sheep farms and hills. However, it's still less than an hour by car/bus from the many sites to see in Edinburgh and worth the trip to experience the city/country contrast.
