I only stayed here for one night - checked in during the evening, took my key and opened the door to a room that reeked of smoke. Both the bedroom and the bathroom absolutely stunk; I couldn't have slept there and any clothes left hanging in the open wardrobe would have been unwearable. Back to reception to ask for another...

Thank you for your feedback; the hotel is completely non smoking, and it is always a pity when a guest doesnt honour this. When you drew this to the attention of reception, the short delay simply refected the hotel was full, and a check was needed to see which rooms had been already allocated, and which might be available still....

When visiting Shetland the hotel is something right out of 1970, concrete prefab. however inside the rooms are of a similiar standard as you would find in a Premier Inn. The bathroom has been recently updated. The rest of the decor is dark, giving it an overcast view throughout.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights. Had a great room facing the Ferry terminal, and the bed was very comfortable. Although we did not have dinner in the hotel, the two breakfasts we had were excellent. The food was cooked to order and was excellent, along with a good selection of juices cereals etc.

My husband and myself went to the Shetland Hotel last night for dinner, so I cannot comment on the hotel as a whole or the rooms.
Based on our dining experience, I would not step foot inside this hotel again.
