Premier Inn Lockerbie (at M74 Annandale Water services) is a gem with fantastic dog-friendly staff. I've stayed there many times (its halfway between Southampton and Stornoway!) on both business and leisure and heartily recommend it to all. Request a lakeside room for outstanding views and a balcony. When your windows are shut there is no motorway noise at all. more

We were greated at the hotel when we arrived at midnight by a very friendly receptionist. She ensured we had a twin room, and made us feel very welcome. The room was spotless, and well maintained.
