This about the 5th time I have stayed at the Somerton House on Business. I have clients in and around the Dumfries and Lockerbie area and I always stay at this Hotel. I found it because on one of my visits years ago my usual hotel was full. I have never gone back to that hotel mainly because I always... More

Fantastic hotel. Staff were great and really friendly and welcoming. Room was lovely, clean, warm and a very inviting. Evening meal in the conservatory was lovely. Breakfast was tasty. Would stay here again without hesitation as nothing was too much trouble and was really good value for money. More

Living locally to the Somerton Hotel, I have never had need to stay at the hotel overnight, but having used their restaurant regularly, I would recommend them as good value, excellent cuisine and exceptionally friendly staff. They have always been attentive towards the needs of my elderly mother which is appreciated. My family and I have just enjoyed an excellent... More

We stayed at the Somerton House Hotel by chance. The RAC ensured we had hotel accomodation when our car broke down on the motorway near Lockerbie. We had no idea that we would be in such an amazing place. The bedroom was palatial with a four poster bed, 40 inch TV and ensuite bathroom with a jacuzzi bath. We enjoyed... More

This is a wonderful Scottish experience. First of all, the hotel is a victorian stone style. Two large stone lions greet you at the front step, one marked "stanley" the other "livingstone", I assume to commemorate the famous 19th century meeting of the two explorers. The place is very clean and accommodating. The people are genuinely nice in the area.... More

We live local and we were not staying over at the Somerton, this review is purely aimed at the food. 4 of us attended, my wife and her parents and the meal was 1st class, we each had 3 courses and each dish was superb. I had a steak with a blue cheese sauce, by gum it was good! Blueberry... More

We booked a "family" room and found the additional bed totally unacceptable. The bed was a cheap blow up bed which deflated in the night and my 10year old daughter ended up in bed with us ! In the morning at breakfast we reported the bed situation to the male member of staff who was watching match of the day... More

We recently returned to this hotel after 12 years, as we had our wedding meal and stayed there after getting hitched in Gretna all those years ago. The place has not changed and we received a warm welcome when we arrived. A lovely size big room with a huge bed. Bed a little to soft for me but everyone is... More

I have just had a two night stay at Somerton House and I can highly reccommend it. I stayed there as a lone traveller in town for a wedding. I was made to feel very welcome by the friendly, curteous and helpful staff and owners. The room was lovely and the breakfast was hearty and piping hot! If I am... More
