Stayed Thursday Friday night on all inclusive basis in April 2013, our latest at one of mercure's excellent value hotels. All the staff from reception to room maids were helpful, attentive and very friendly. On the first night the hotel was very busy with 2 coach tours so we booked evening meal for 8 pm, the meal and service was... More

We stayed at the goldthorn at the end of april after a family party and I would like to say it was a nice stay but unfortunately I was not impressed with our stay. The room was very warm overnight even though the heating was turned off, all the doors between our room and reception made a very loud bang... More

Focus hotel 2 night deal cost £168 for 2 nights all inclusive with the free evening bar.absolute bargain.rooms were fine, breakfast lovely ,staff very friendly.slight hiccup 2nd night when only ice cream and brownies were available after we had perused the menu.apparently the dessert maker didn't turn in.the manager very kindly refunded our dessert charges(2 courses only are included in the... We booked 2 superior rooms in this hotel paying £10 extra per day(per room) for two nights. We had requested 2 adjoining rooms but were informed incorrectly that Room 92 and Room 96 were opposite one another. In fact these rooms were 3 doors apart. In addition we were told that all rooms in the Business Centre were in superior... More

Many thanks for you comments following your recent stay I have spoken to the managers concerned who thought that they had communicated to you that these were the last two rooms available and just along the corridor - sorry if that communication was not sufficient and you did not enjoy your stay More

The bread and butter of any hotel should be the nights sleep and I had one of the worst sleeps ever. The bed was extremely uncomfortable with tiny little pillows. To make it worse the road noise and traffic came right into the room with the windows not reducing the noise in any way. The food was reasonable and staff... More

staff helpful and friendly.Really nice breakfast but evening menu was uninspiring although food was nice enough.Comfortable bed, nice thick towels, room clean .Hotel is a bit tired looking ,20 mins walk from town centre which didn't have a lot to offer. Also has a good sized car park always a plus point.

We stayed with my brother and his wife for a long weekend (April 2013). The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had booked all inclusive and arrived slightly late to miss the afternoon lunch, we asked the staff if we can be accomodated with a bite to eat and within twenty mins our lunch was catered. During our stay... More

I really can't make up my mind on this hotel. It's clean, friendly, welcoming and the food is ok. But I left without feeling satisfied about my stay. My room was nice but the tv wasn't much bigger than an iPad, the thing I can't ignore was this has to be the most uncomfortable nights sleep I've had in a... More

Recently attended a friends wedding at this Hotel. The food was quite unimaginative and the meal was slightly spoiled by the continuous swearing from a male chef in thekitchen. This could be heard throughout the dining room and I feel that such uunimaginativeand boring food for a small wedding breakfast hardly warrants the stressfull language that was heard through the...
