I chose to stay here because the hotel was next to Worthing Station, which couldn't have been handier. I was expecting the hotel to be a bit scruffy because I got a cheap rate, but I was pleasantly surprised. My room was really nice - it had a flat-screen TV, lovely bathroom with big bath, a fireplace, and everything was... more

Rather than a "Grand Hotel" this is essentially a set of rooms above a railway pub. The rooms are clean and fairly okay but somewhat dated. We had a twin room and one of the beds was rather uncomfortable with a clearly ageing mattress, the other was okay. The window didn't open and the room was consequently quite stuffy -... more

Old type sash windows, cords were broken. Managed to wedge one window open with 2 Argos catalogues, that had been left. On an average Summers day, the heat could be hazardous to health, the staff could at least close the curtains! Noise from club ( on premises?), extremely loud up until 3am. Breakfast a bit cheap tack. Offered no extra... more

Not so far from the madding crowd at Brighton (where we were due to watch cricket the next day), Worthing is a quieter option with enough pubs and restaurants to keep you amused. The hotel is well-named, with gables, fancy ironwork, half-timbering and enough red brick to cover the sea fronts from Selsey Bill to Beachy Head. Three of us... more

Arrived at hotel early and understandably rooms were not ready. Had a beer in the bar which is lovely and staff were friendly. Half an hour later our rooms were ready. Room was spartan. No towels, soap, cups or remote control. Beds sagged very badly and window would not shut. Breakfast was a real experience. tea and coffee served in... more

We found this hotel simply by getting off the train. It was a bit surprising to have to go into the bar to register. After that, nothing but the best in service. A very clean comfortable room, nice decor all round, and the friendliest staff. The meals were spectacular. When I read the other reviews I am surprised that people... more

Having arrived at the hotel slightly early i was welcomed extremely warmly, the staff where helpfull and had great local knowledge, we where informed that the management had recently changed and they where a family run hotel, you can tell this in the atttention to detail, from good homecooked dinners and a warm and inviting atmosphere, i was weary after... more

what was supposed to be a lovely night at a seaside hotel turned into the night from hell! Had to get the key from inside the pub which was full of unsavoury characters and that was just the bar staff! The family room we had was small but ok apart from the peeling wall paper. I noticed that there was... more
