We stayed for one night, but it won't be the last time. The bar is very cosy and the staff and locals very friendly. We had an evening meal that was good quality, and the breakfast was amongst the best we've had. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. The bathroom was huge with plenty... More

This hotel could do a lot better if managed properly by the landlord. and is not worthy of 4 stars. Green mould grows on the outside walls of the pub. well over due for a paint up.The central heating is very poor and bangs and clanks disturbing sleep. The bathroom suite is very dated with a shower that is almost... More

We have just got back from a 3 nite stay at the Railway. I want to say thanks to all the staff for making our stay lovely. Nothing was too much trouble, the rooms are a good size, and the bathrooms are large. Yes, like the other reviews I agree the bathrooms are dated, but they are clean and fit... More

There's been a hotel on this site since the 1850's and you can probably guess that it's right next to Appledore station. The accommodation is at the rear of the hotel with a row of "Bates Motel" style rooms ( without the cross-dressing and big knife). I stayed in Room 7 which was a twin with 2 narrow single beds-... Lovely location and friendly staff. But all in all a bit dated and realistically not worth the money being asked. Rooms were clean but in serious need of some work and did smell a bit damp. Ensuite was handy but out of date and could really do with a power shower and bit of modernising. We were unlucky to pick... More

Lovely warm welcome, wide range of food on menu, all nicely cooked with good sized portions. Nice clean double room with tv and ensuite bathroom. There was a private and safe carpark. The full english breakfast set us up well for the day. Would not hesitate to stay there again !!! More

I spend most of my time traveling from one hotel or another, I will admit I was going to give this one a miss after reading a bad review, but I took a chance and It paid off, all the other reviews say about friendly service, what they don't say is that you are made to feel totally wecome by... Firstly it was our wedding anniversary and we decided to spend it in the kent country side. We picked the railway hotel because of the location, having the train station opposite, looking back I wish we had stayed in Ashford at the premier inn / travelodge or similar, as the price was better and from past experience quality for money...
