We spent last weekend there and would recommend. Clean, tidy and a lovely house. Gardens pretty and on a nice day would be great to sit in and read a book (unfortunatley the weather wasn't that good). Good home cooked breakfast and friendly owners. Thanks More

What a fabulous place – we stayed for the weekend and already cannot wait to go back. This stylish Victorian guest house is situated next to the park, very close to the town centre and near the town’s pubs, bars and restaurants. Buxton is a charming town with something for everyone - from the colourful Pavilion Gardens, Opera House practically... More

The breakfast times have been 8.00 to 9.15 for the last 10 Years but we always ask all our Guests if this is OK. I should point out that in August and indeed most of the Year our Guests wish to arise early enough to take in the wonderful countryside and visitor attractions to make full use of their day.... Found this guest house on trip adviser, ideal location in peak district for walking & cycling. Just outside town centre with plenty of amenities and places to eat. Our hosts were very freindly and acommodating providing the "biggest small breakfast I have ever seen", service was extremely good. Stayed with friends, rooms were excellent and loved the house, free to... More

It is very nice to have people appreciate what we do for them. Your reviewer makes a good point about freedom to come and go as many places still discourage daytime returns also we only ask our Guest whether they would like a cooked breakfast including vegetarian or Continental but we don't ask them to fill in a form to... Despite arriving at a very late hour on a Friday evening for a weekend break, Colin and Avril warmly welcomed us to their elegant Victorian house. Our room was warm, peaceful, clean and spacious and had an ensuite bathroom. Bed linen and bathroom towels of a high quality were particularly nice touches. Breakfast each morning was really good with more... More

On the one hand we were very pleased with the positive comments regarding how well we had looked after our visitors. We were however somewhat mystified as to how we positive comments such as "a warm comfortable room etc" was given a 4 out of 5 and " an easy stroll in to" only gave us a 4 out of... More

My mother and I have just spent 6 nights here and had a lovely stay. We were made to feel very welcome from Colin and Avril, and they were both charming hosts. Avril cooks a lovely breakfast and our special request for skimmed milk was not a problem. The bedroom we had was very comfortable with lovely thick towels and... More

Thank you for kind comments. I did mention that there was a hall light with a low energy light bulb that could be left on all night. However, with all the other information I imparted on arrival it may well have not registered. With regard to a fridge we are not licensed so one would only be used for the... More

Lovely place to stay for visiting the Buxton/Southern Peaks area. Stayed here for three nights and I can highly recommend it. Nicely situated near one end of a park and pond area which makes for a relaxing walk into town for the restaurants and pubs in the evening. Top notch breakfasts which were very tasty and more than I could... More

We have been Hotel users over the years and have stayed in many the World over from local small Hotels right up to Marriott 5 star locations. Taking a prompting from our friends we decided to check out the B&B option at the Oldfield Guest House in Buxton. We were not let down and found this most acceptable, the accommodation... More

It is nice to be called the best of anything and it is appreciated but one would have to stay at all the Guest Houses here to be sure. We think we are in the top 3 without a doubt in terms of the quality of the rooms, breakfasts certainly, and value for money compared to what is on offer.... More
