We had a lovely stay at Rothbury and will be coming back later in the year! The house was easy to find, beautifully decorated and with amazing views from the Red room at the top of the house. We felt we had more of a suite than a room with the separate TV area and bathroom on the top floor.... More

We stayed in the self-catering apartment in Rothbury for 3 nights last wkend and would definitely stay again. The accommodation is really lovely and and just a ten minute walk from central Hay. The apartment was very comfortable, beautifully finished and homely, and very reasonably priced. We found Jan and Andrew to be very welcoming and helpful hosts. We'd highly... More

Fantastic B&B, a lovely room, overlooking the hills to the rear, with not a house in sight. Jan and Andrew were really friendly and cooked a fantastic breakfast, with a choice of three different breakfast options. Hay was only a short walk away (about 10 mins) across the fields or by the road, which was about the perfect distance for... More

We came to stay here for my birthday weekend - and had such a welcome with a beautiful card and even a cupcake. We were made so welcome by the lovely hosts and enjoyed every minute of our stay there. The en suiterooms are clean and bright and full of charm and we loved having breakfast with the beautiful antique... More

My stay at Rothbury started off nicely--the owner offered to retrieve me from the bus stop at night, which I appreciated, and her husband dropped me off in town later that night for dinner when they went to get take-away. They are very helpful with tourist information and maps, and I am sure that they would be willing to help... More

It’s always a disappointment when a guest is not fully happy with their stay; however the writing was on the wall with this guest when we received nine emails (with questions in each) for a one night stay. This interchange did cover the location in detail and whilst many people choose Cusop because they want to avoid being in the... More

We had a last minute break here in July. Couldn't have wished for better location, hosts or accommodation. Jan even made my wife a little birthday cake - how's that for customer service. Everything you could possibly want from a B&B and more. Hopefully we will return one day. More

We had the pleasure of staying at Rothbury in September during a mini heatwave! We stayed in the 'annexe' joined onto the main house which was just perfect. Wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and grazing sheep. Absolutely beautiful house amongst lovely gardens. A very peaceful setting, just a short walk into the centre of Hay through fields. Jan and... More

Rothbury is a beautiful and impressive Edwardian house in Cusop, just inside England but a very short walk or a 2 minute drive into Hay-on-Wye (in Wales). For me the fact that it was just outside the town made it more enjoyable as Rothbury is very quiet and peaceful and the walk into Hay is very pleasant. We stayed in... More
