We recently spent a night there after a birthday party just up the road from the George,it was just perfect 3/4 mins and we were in our room. When we came back from our party i thought we wouldn't get much sleep because it was buzzing in the pub and our room was at the front of the building but we... What a lovely place The George is, the staff were very helpful and friendly. I booked my Dad's 80th Birthday meal here for 15 adults and 2 children and they all thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service and the friendly staff. I must add that the bill at the end was pleasing too, very reasonable! I have returned since this... More

This old property has a small restaurant and pub. Car Park at back for residents only Locaton is walking distance to several restaurants, and it is actually built into the old town wall, with the main street right outside the door. The Rver Wye, and Chepstow Castle are a 5 minute walk stright down. Food is good and reasonable Hotel... More

Upon arrival, we thought we had entered into the wrong building. When I made the reservation on Booings.com it was advertised as a Hotel, walking in, it's actually a pub. Staff were friendly enough. Our bedroom was Rm3, well were do I begin. The floor boards creeked like mad, lets put it this way if either of us got up... More

We visited the George after a day out at nearby Caldicot country park and had a good meal at a great price. The kids menu is fantastic value for money and for just £3.50 they can have a main meal, drink and ice cream! The food the adults had was all good and again great value for money. Service friendly... Arrive at approx 10am unfortunately the car park at the rear only caters for around 12 vehicles so had too wait for a space. Booking in is at 3 pm but they kindly offered to lock our bags away until the rooms were ready or we had returned from the race course. It's approx 25 minute walk to Chepstow race... More

First visit since its been refurbished. My previous visit was a good experience and the place still is. Didn't stay overnight just had drinks and food. Very busy on Saturday afternoon, and not all rugby viewers. The food and drink are still great quality and value for money. A couple of the hand pump beers were off but there was... More

Awful service. food wasn't very good(especially the steak!) not a good management team whatsoever. Would never return... some of the bar staff were friendly but others seemed very miserable. Only good thing was price, if the steak was actually cooked properly!
