This is the worst place i have ever stayed at. The hotel was full of dated trash that really made me want to pack up and leave not unpack and stay. If I wasn't so tired after a long car trip I would have done just this. Isn't it 2009 not 1809? What a shame there wasn't more space to... more

I feel compelled to add the experiences of myself and my partner to this catalogue of woes, in the help it will assist others in avoiding this place from hell. My partner and I had the great misfortune to experience first hand what everyone else has been saying. We cannot comment on the breakfast, because we had to escape from... more

This is the weirdest B&B I ever stayed in - but also the one where we had the best laugh; the house is unbelievable - and our "diagnosis" is that the owners may be slightly autistic - they need rules and structure and will be friendly if you respect them but will be absolutely perturbed and rude if you don't... more

Upon arriving at this guest house we were met by the owners son who was very friendly and helpful. I also noticed all the collectors plates in the hallway and found the place fascinating. We asked to use the pool, they obliged and took the cover off for us. We swam whilst accompanied by the two cute dogs running around... more

Ideal stop over after long journey from Scotland on way to Chunnel. Good nights sleep in quiet, comfy room and great breakfast mean your ready for a long days trip through France. A friendly welcome awaits on your arrival, just what you want after an 8+ hours journey! The proprietors make you fell like a person not a room number.... more

I arrived at 6pm to a very warm welcome by "mine hosts". I was shown to my single bedroom on the first floor which was very good. The large bathroom was excellent too. I had an evening meal which I chose over a mug of tea when I arrived. I chose 3 courses which saw me through to the very... more

I can not believe this place. I saw it on the Hotel Inpsection, and was not impressed with the attitude of the host then, but geez in real life she is a piece of work. I have never, ever experienced the rudeness and lack of respect for people as what I recieved on my night from hell. The room was... more

We arrived late at the hotel, you have to arrive before 10.30 as the people who run it will probably be asleep. Its basically there big house which they have made into a B & B. There are dogs running around and lots of tat in the rooms and the dinning area. The major downside is that the bedding did... more

I happened to see the Hotel Inspector Program about Garden Lodge, Densole, UK. I have been staying at Garden Lodge for more than 20 years and I have seen this business flourish. As a German who is not used to have B&Bs in our own country I thoroughly enjoyed staying in B&Bs all over England and Ireland while travelling the... more

had an overnight stay at Garden Lodge before using the tunnel to cross over to France the next morning. Both Ron and Sue were extremely welcoming offering us an evening meal if we required one we were hoping to stay for breakfast the next morning but had such an early crossing that Sue made us up a bag of bacon... more
