4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2013 NEW

I have recently enjoyed my third stay at the County Hotel. I visit Carlisle to see family and prefer to stay in a hotel so I can have my own space; so for this reason value for money is essential. The County Hotel provides exactly that. The location is excellent, the rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable and the breakfast... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights and even on week nights this place is very noisy from the street even on upper floors. Luckily I take my ear plugs everywhere I go. The rooms were nice enough. Bathroom in need of a reno. Breakfast was brilliant and the bar staff were lovely and accommodating.

This hotel is nothing fancy but is just a block from the train station so it was a sight for sore eyes after the train trip. Formerly a very nice hotel with marble stairs (under the stair carpeting) and a beautiful ceiling in the dining room. Not sure how well the bathrooms were cleaned since there was used soap and... IMy company booked me a single room for last week which on first appearance was clean and tidy but had a strong smell of fresh paint, I settled down to complete some paperwork and noticed the paint fumes were causing my throat to become dry and sore, it was only when i went out of the room that I realised... we stayed 2 nights at the weekend and did not realise it was right in the middle of the busiest street on a night with hen parties and stag parties. The room wasn't that bad just tired and in need of updating but on the night the noise was horrendous as the windows were only single glaze. The cold water... More

An old hotel and rather dated - needs a lot of money spending on it to bring it to life. While I was there it was frequented by OAP bus trips stopping over and workmen. The bedrooms could do with better security as there was no internal lock/door chain/spyhole etc, as a single female traveler I did not like this... More

Just stayed one night and regretted it. My room was filthy dirty, the carpet badly stained, the bathroom awful with a rotting bath panel and obvious dirt round the basin and WC. The curtains appeared never to have been cleaned. There was no bedside light. The furniture was scratched and worn and was a disgrace. I would never stay at... More

Not a nice place to stay at all. The location should help it succeed but it's very tired and drab, it needs investment. It is certainly cheap but I wouldn't stay there again at even half the price. The road outside is closed off to traffic some nights during the week. The party-goers then take over so noise can be... More

1st time i used this hotel and it won't be the last :) What a lovely receptionist Liz is... naturally warm, friendly and very welcoming. She is a real asset to the hotel and her employers should give her a well deserved bonus :) Not only does The Court have a delightful receptionist but the staff in their kitchen know... More
