I have visited the Lakes many times but this was the best ever, thanks to Lorraine and Martyn's hospitality. We stayed in the apartment which was beautifully decorated, warm and confortable, and had plenty of space for our family of four. Lorraine's home made cake was waiting for us when we arrived and we were given plenty of pointers as... More

We have stayed as a family in both the B&B and SC flat. The location to put it mildly is 'stunning', the house is every bit the manor you imagine. As you can see from my other reviews I am not pleased or blown away easy, bit this place tops the lot. If you are staying in the B&B you... More

This is the best B&B we've ever stayed in. Simply perfect. Martyn and Lorraine are incredibly welcoming and gave us freshly baked scones and tea when we arrived and made us feel completely welcome and at home. It really felt like we had our own country house for the weekend. The house itself is splendid in a wonderful location. Our... More

What a fabulous place to relax on our walk of The Cumbria Way. The owners, Lorraine and Martyn are exceptional hosts by virtue of the homely welcome and thoughtful preparations for the following day of the walk. The welcome with homemade cakes and biscuits was even more special because Lorraine achieved it all with a broken foot, what a star!... More

This was our favorite B&B of our 3 week trip to Great Britain - and we stayed in some wonderful places! The house was really beautiful, on a hillside with a lovely pastoral view on a quiet dead end street. Our room and bathroom were huge, spotless and beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable. As if that wasn't enough,... More

Lorraine & Martin made us feel their special guests from the moment they came out to greet our arrival to the moment they waved us bye-bye. Don't go here - unless you want B & B perfection; Don't go here - unless you expect excellent service; Don't go here - unless you want stunning accommodations; for In truth we got... More

We stayed here in July with friends for one night. We were welcomed with tea and cake on arrival. The owners were very welcoming and coped well as there were 10 of us. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding with homemade muesli, sourdough bread and a delightful banana ring served with maple syrup. We would definitely recommend Hawkesdale lodge and... More

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by Lorraine and Martyn with smiles and warmth, cookies and cakes! The house itself is immaculate and has real character and sits in fantastic grounds. The view from our bedroom was idyllic and the sunrise in the morning coming over the hills was amazing. The room we stayed in was extremely spacious... More

Thank you Matt, I'm so pleased you both enjoyed your stay with us at Hawksdale Lodge. It is very rewarding to hear that our guests really feel relaxed and just a bit pampered whilst they are here. The views are stunning aren't they, we never cease to admire them - in fact we can easily while away a significant amount... More
