I consider this hotel to have been a very unlucky find; travelling back down south after a driving trip of Scotland we needed a comfortable place to stay overnight before continuing our journey home. Not wanting to stay 'on the side of the road' in a travel lodge/premier inn we searched the internet for a hotel just off the A1... more

Nice room until you looked more closely and saw dirty tiles in the bathroom and the dirtiest soap holder I have ever seen. Spa was closed and pool was full of flies and definitely needs a good cleaning. Whole place needs a good renovation. Dark rooms and very dark corridors. £69 for a single person for room only (no breakfast)... more

We stayed at the Blackwell Grange for 3 nights with Laver Holidays. It is situated in a wonderful position on a cliff top with marvellous views out to sea. Our bedroom was very clean and comfortable and included an ironing board which was very useful. It was a busy weekend for the staff as they had two wedding groups to... more

This hotel is very grand looking. I could be improved with a bit of modernisation, but our room was very grand! The food was OK, the breakfast was great. The staff were friendly and happy to help. The grounds were nice and we enjoyed our dinner sat in the garden int he sunshine. Being out of town, there was plenty... more

We stayed in this hotel so we could visit family so the location was ideal, we last stayed here about 6 years ago and it has gone downhil. We stayed over the bank holiday weekend, and booked over the internet for£ 72 a night B &B. We arrived on Sat 2.30pm, both bars seemed to be closed and hotel felt... more

Wanted 5 rooms in cheap hotel for 2 nights while racing at Croft race circuit. Paid £37 for room only and pleased with location and quality, normally have to stay in noisy roadside motels and pay more. Arrived mid evening and booked table for 8 in hotel. Staff were concerned we might have to wait for meal as they were... more

Ok we paid £45 for the room and got what you would expect. The rooms were clean but a little outdated, beds were not of the best quality. The hotel from the front looks impressive but the extension with majority of the rooms were not appealing. The staff were friendly. The price of drinks we thought was expensive and it... more

We stayed in this hotel with a coach party for one night, and we did not expect such high standards from a one night stay. Our twin bedded room was spotlessly clean, on the ground floor in the annex part of the hotel (134). Fine comfortable beds, tea making and flat screen tv. Evening meal and breakfast was fine too,... more

Stayed here for one night with coach company visiting Durham and York for weekend. Room comfortable, warm and very clean. Beds adequate but could do with larger size quilt to cut down on draughts when you turnover. Plenty of hot water available and shower very easy to operate. Impressed with good size bottles of toiletries. Food was very hot, including... more

Stayed here for one night in 2007, whilst on business at Teesside. Not the central (to Teesside) location promised by the travel agent. Nice hotel in need of a little bit of care. Very friendly staff. Propably suited to a nice romantic getaway. more
