This is my second time in Bergen. On this occasion it was for a one night stopover after getting off the Hurtigruten and before starting off on 'Norway in a Nutshell' tour. Like some of the other reviewers had mentioned earlier, this hotel is in a revitalizing residential neighborhood; it is not in the city center. Taxi fares are not... More

The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the city center. The neighborhood is quiet and residential, and there's a beautiful park across the street. I liked the breakfast - boiled eggs, meats, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, juice, coffee and tea. There were cookies in the evening, and the coffee and tea were available 24 hours. I thought the price... Steen's is a little out of the city center but offers great value and a nice breakfast. The hotel is located is a nice neighbourhood and staff were quite pleasant. Rooms were a little tired but the breakfast room was amazing with wood paneling and a large stained glass window. The breakfast selection wasn't huge but all was freash and... More

Lovely location in quiet residential area near the university, but not very central. Rather difficult to find and 10 minute walk into town. Walk downhill into town, but of course uphill on return. Many other hotels in centre. Hotel charming and very peaceful. Breakfast quite meagre. More

Moved here because my original hotel had no rooms, and pleased I did. Beautiful old place in a beautiful neigborhood full of similar mansions. friendly though not always manned reception. I was taken to a huge room on the top floor with rather dated furniture and bathroom compensated by a magnificent old stained glass skylight covering a good portion of... More

There's a lot to love about this hotel. It is in a beautiful building full of antiques in a neighborhood of stunning houses, the dining room is like stepping into the 1800's, the curving stairs as you enter are lovely, and you are greeted by very nice people when you check in. We had a room facing a lovely park... More

This is an OK hotel in every respect. Not luxurious by any means, but clean, with helpful staff, and a large room. The breakfast was good, in the room with the stained glass windows; they have hot chocolate and coffee availabe for free all day, and also cookies in the afternoon. It is a good little walk, maybe a half... More

A bit expensive in comparison with international standards, but good value for money considering hotel prices in Bergen. Close to city center and train station, nice area, but please consider it is located at the top of a small hill. Charming dining room, coffee and tea available all day long, very nice and helpful staff! Please consider there is no... More

This was originally a Victorian gentleman's house. The lobby, lounge and breakfast room are fantastic looking and feel like you've traveled back in time. There's gorgeous wood paneling and stained glass windows and a lovely sitting area where we relaxed after a long day There's also a complimentary coffee/cocoa machine with several hot drinks at a touch of a button,... The Steens Hotel was one of our best decisions on our trip to Norway. The location is amazing and we felt like royalty. The staff were friendly and the house has a feeling of luxury and intimacy. When I reserved the room I specifically said that I prefer a room with a view and I think we got the best... More
