We arrived by rail and opted the walk from the station since the temperature was a balmy -3c. It was fairly easy to find, but the front door was a little harder. It's next to the Pepe's Pizza, so ignore the arrows on the doors. The reception space was cozy (that means small, but not that bad for Norway) and... More

An interesting hotel with lots of charm. The room was lovely. Bathroom was exceptional. The staff could not have been more helpful. Bergen, however, is VERY EXPENSIVE. More

I chose the Det Hanseatiske at the suggestion of a colleague in Bergen. I usually stay at one the chains in Norway- seen one, seem them all. It was an interesting place to stay and the room was first rate. The Det Hanseatiske is a merger of some very old buildings with some modern additions. The layout is a bit... More

On the positive side, a lovely welcome from Erik, who spoke perfect English (like most Norwegians), a quirky and pleasant room with comfortable and modern amenities. On the negative side, at breakfast the young female waitress and young female cook were not in the slightest bit interested in us at breakfast: no greeting, no acknowledgment at all. If the restaurant... More

I simply cannot believe this place is not mentioned in some of the big guide books, this little place (only 16 rooms) is attached to the Hanseatic Museum and three restaurants in Bryggen and is literally right on the waterfront. You can get to the funicular (2 minute walk) up to the top of Mt Floyen, where there is also... More

Nestled behind the Hanseatic Museum along the Bryggen Waterfront in Bergen, heritage listed timber hotel refurbished with all modern cons but still keeping the uneven floors, the rustic beams and overall appeal of an historical building. 200 metres to the famous fishmarket, 500 metres past the traditional timber homes to the royal fortress of days gone by. Quaint shopping streets... More

Very unique old hotel which has mostly been redone. We loved the wood floors and wood ceiling in the bedroom. The owner who checked us in could not be more friendly and even offered that we could wait in the breakfast area and get something to eat while we waited for our room since we arrived early. I loved our... More

A hotel which will not appeal to all, but we loved it. Our bathroom included the giant wooden wheel over the clawfoot bath, exposed beams, sloping ceilings . The building itself is full of twists and turns and a visit to the adjacent Haseatic Museumis a must to immerse yourself in the history. Room positives included a bar fridge, tea... More

This hotel offered a truly unique experience. The dark, almost Gothic room was very cozy, although it did have the feeling of not being completely finished yet. One half of a wall had no wallpaper, leaving the behind-lying planks visible - I don't know if it was on purpose or if the wallpaper ran out... We stayed in one of... More
