We stayed at the Viking hotel (City living) in Trondheim for two nights in July 2008. It is by far the worst hotel in Norway that I have ever stayed in. Upon arrival we found the doors to the hotel locked, with a note telling us that we would have to check in at another hotel in the same chain of hotels (City living) about 200-300 meters away. After trekking there and waiting in line, we got our electronic key-card (only one because they were short on cards) after having to pay for the stay in advance (about 275 $ for two nights). We then walked back to the hotel and managed to open the door.
Our room was situated on the 3 rd floor and naturally we headed for the elevator. It was in principle operational, but had a note warning guests that it was not connected to any security system at the moment. Guests were therefore advised to use the stairs when the reception was closed (which it was for our whole stay expect at checkout). We made our way through the stained carpet...
