Very bare bones and very expensive. You could probably get a low end hotel room with breakfast for what I paid for this hostel in a less than desirable neighborhood. While I did not feel unsafe I did not want to stay a second longer than I had to. There were no amenities and a rundown feel.

There are quite a lot of poor reviews on trip advisor for this hostel but the basic truth is its near a dodgy area (Scandinavia dodgy, not European, which means to most of us it's perfectly safe!), the rooms are a little dated, but it's very central, friendly staff, has everything you need or could want to buy and most... Cheapest hostel in Oslo (but not cheap itself). It's cozy and you can fell an international atmosphere inside. Free wifi. You have to rent sheets (around 50nok - 70 nok) and pay for the breakfast which is in the near restaurant (55nok if you buy the coupon in the hostel, it's cheaper if you go and pay directly in the... As you would know that Norway is expensive... so if you are on a budget, then this hostel would suit you... but you have to be prepared for the obvious! It is not one of the cleanest hostel... but the room (8 bed dorm) that I got was spacious and had a kitchen and toilet/shower room. You could pay 55... More

I have stayed in Anker Hostel for two nights. It's price is quiet good for Oslo, especially considering the fact that you will be very close to city center and Central Station ! The staff is very friendly and you could find some people to talk with. However , everything except for the bed and hot water(!) is costing you money... More

The hostel isn't bad, its very average in most things with the exception of the location. Many of Oslo's sights are within walking distance and moving around the city form this location by public trasnport is quite easy. What I didn't like is being charged extra for sheets and not provided with a towel, which I haven't experience before in... More

During our trip to Oslo, we stayed in Anker hostel. The location is very good, 10mins walking from the centre and 2mins from several restaurants and bars, and a tram stop just in front of it. Even if surrounded by city hotspots, the hostel is still in a quiet corner. The room was basic, but clean. The only surprise was... More

Anker Hostel is one of the cheapest places to stay in Oslo, so you can't expect luxury, and the place is good for the price. The location is close to the city centre, and so it's a good base for exploring, and only 10 minutes walk from the train station and bus terminal when arriving or leaving. Thanks to the... More

The place is ugly and sterile. People that are working there are dull and lifeless. There is no WI FI in rooms. They are charging extra for everything including linen. One day I didnt have 100 NOK but 70 and they didn't want to lend me dishes. They made me go to the exchange office. The toilet was broken and... More
