Being allowed to check in early after the overnight DFDS ferry from Copenhagen was an immediate plus in this large, comfortable, elegant hotel. We are in a Jr. Suite-lovely! There were no bellman to assist us with our luggage as we exited a taxi. Just arrived and feeling refreshed after a long bath. There is some sort of protest or focus outside with clapping and people gathering. Don't understand a word!

Perhaps I've been spoiled by the boutique hotels. Orbitz gave a good price on the air plus hotel, including the Grand Hotel, and I went for it. It's another big old hotel with tour groups. The Grans Hotel is conveniently located. When you walk out onto Karl Johans Gate there is a good feel. Vibrancy without a crushing crowd. The hotel is indeed grand. Great stay! Had a rather large, and very comfortable, room with a view. Service is perfect, everyone in the hotel is serviceminded. The hotel had a beautiful spa, believe voted best in town. Breakfast buffet with a wide selection, good start of the day! Highly recommended for travellers whom like good hotels in great locations.
