Arrived at lunchtime after having been disappointed that our normal haunt The Old Spot, Wells, was fully booked. We have lived locally for 15 years and have never thought to give it a try. What a mistake that has been. A great shabby, chic venue, with a roaring fire, which on a cold and miserable day was wonderfully welcoming, as... More

Three of us ate here on Saturday night, in the restaurant where the service was very good, not too fast and not too slow. We ordered two rib eye steaks which were perfectly cooked and served with extremely good triple cooked chips. The duck was also perfectly cooked to our taste (medium) and was nice and moist and served with... More

My friend and I decided to get out of London and do New Years in the out in the sticks, we imagined a beautiful pub, modestly but comfortable, with excellent food, friendly staff and a thriving local community that for one night and one night only would take us under their wing and make us feel quite one of the... I had to write about my New Years Eve night at the Oakhill ! I went along with some local friends and had a sumptuous Dinner, Superb Service all at a reasonable cost. It takes a lot for staff to be cheerful, whilst they could be out enjoying themselves but the Oakhill Team looked like they thoroughly enjoyed the evening.... More

This inn has got great feel about it. Perfect place for quite romantic get-away. The food was superb. The room was of a good standard but the food and atmosphere is what makes this place really special. We have stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed our break - can't recommend any more! More

Stayed here for 3 nights. Very comfortable. Food fantastic. Staff very attentive. Lovely atmoshere. Accept dogs - footpath through field very close. Only minus on busy road so bit noisy in mornings - double glazing would help. Would stay here again. More

Stayed for 3 nights. Bedroom overlooked the courtyard so was nice and quiet with an excellent bathroom, great shower and proper sized bath. Everyone was most welcoming and friendly, from all of the staff to customers (locals) in the bar. The food was fantastic, local produce cooked just superbly. Venison, partridge, steaks and the juiciest duck breast, difficult to pick... More
