Too expensive for what you get. What dou you get? Dated hotel with basic facilities. Our Iceland experience showed us that this hotel falls outside what you may expect in this beautiful country. You pay a Reykjavic price for a place in the middle of nowhere (although with a nice view, if the barn would'nt be there). We arrived three... More

Following a brilliant lobster dinner in Höfn, we arrived at the Foss Vatnajokull pretty late. Welcome and room were fine, although overall the hotel gave the impression of remaining in a 1970s highland Scotland (you had to be there!) timewarp to some extent. Breakfast was a buffet, which was fine and was rounded off with apple pastry iced in really... More

My husband and I have just returned from touring Iceland having stayed 1 night at this hotel. We will return to Iceland (again - this was our second visit) but will not return to the Foss Hotel. At €190 per night it is twice as expensive as most hotels in Iceland but the standard is extremely poor in comparison, I... More

We had a twin room in a separate building - with view of the glaciers. We had paid for a normal room only, but they upgraded us for free as a compensation for the difficulties we had experienced with another Fosshotel. The room was very comfortable - for an Icelandic hotel room. The shower-only bathroom was spacious. The warm water... More

We stayed here for two nights in May. Pluses were the comfortable beds and nice breakfast. There were only a few other guests and it was extremely quiet -- the only real noise was the sheep bleating from the farm next door. A big minus was the flimsy curtains. During the spring/summer, it never really gets dark at night, so... More

We stayed at this hotel during our Iceland trip. The hotel was in a very pretty location (glaciers on one side with mountains). Breakfast was included with the room. The dinner was pretty good and was typical of Iceland hotels. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a lot of noise from the hall and adjacent rooms. Our... More

The main benefit of this hotel is that it provides a convenient stopover along the way. Yet, it is of a good if basic standard, with great views to the glaciers. Our rooms were comfortable enough. We enjoyed dinner there and breakfast in the morning. The staff was most friendly and helpful as well. I'd recommend it. More

A hotel of the Foss chain, it is located about 10km outside Hofn. In the country with views of 4 glaciers. Basically a tour bus hotel, functional rather than aesthetic. And very expensive, about $300, compared to other hotels we stayed in. We got there about 4pm and were the only ones there, until the French speaking tour bus pulled... More

Small hotel pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but a good stopping point. Gets used a lot by coach parties. Most rooms are small with twin beds. We were lucky enough to have room 30, which was quite big and comfortable and has a double bed. The restaurant is ok and it’s worth booking to ensure that you get... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. Beautiful spot,5 minutes from edge of glacier, in the middle of open countryside.Rooms were small and simple but clean and perfectly adequate.staff very friendly and helpful. We had to leave suddenly for home due to a family illness, staff couldn't do enough to help, taking messages from the uk & getting up early to get... More
