Having stayed in a few Scandic Hotels recently, this is definitely the best. I only stayed one night so did not get chance to see the facilities, only the room, reception and breakfast. I have spent several week-long trips at the Kuopio Scandic Hotel....I was always upgraded and had a room overlooking Lake Khallavesi.....really beautiful. Beds were comfortable and rooms large and quiet. Shower is great, nice & strong! I only wish that they had some rooms with a sauna! We had a beautiful lakefront view, the breakfast was great, lots of different things to try, the staff were very helpful, free internet access, beautiful town, lovely walks, a wonderful restaurant directly opposite. Hotel is situated by the lake Kallavesi and it's just a short nice walk to the passenger-harbour, where all the small Kallavesi-sightseeing bouts leave. Nice view but hot rooms and seagull island 200 meters from window screaming so keeping the window open was not an option. Also the curtains is not doing a great job of keeping the very early (nordic summer) morning sun out and room will be quite hot during the day. Maybe exceptional heat 28 degrees C but aircond should work... More

A very comfortable stay. Only did two short trips so didn't have time to do much in the hotel, but both stays were very nice and I would definitely go back. Very friendly staff. More

I stayed at the Scandic for a week (travelling on buisness). i was lucky to get a lake facing room on the top floor.
